Captains Corner – World Friendship Day
On Thursday the 30th of July it was World Friendship Day. Friendship Day is about bringing people together and making new friends! We wanted to have an activity to celebrate this wonderful day, every class got paired with another class and ate lunch with them! 6S ate lunch with Prep FY and it was enjoyable, especially since the preps I was sitting with kept telling funny knock knock jokes that made me laugh. It was just fun to bond with other kids and hang out, talk and eat lunch together! The whole school also did friendship activities in their classrooms at the end of the day. Year 6's and Prep's did their activities together with their buddies. The were two activities we could choose to do with our buddy were: we could make bookmarks or friendship bracelets. Zara and I, who are partnered up with a prep, Norah, decided that we were going to make friendship bracelets with a bead that had the first letter of our name in it. The bracelet I made was a rainbow, with a mix of pastel and metallic beads. Our buddy made a super cool bracelet with different metallic beads that looked amazing. We also helped our buddies to put the beads on the string if they were struggling but all the preps were so good at it already! It was great getting to spend quality time with our buddies building stronger friendship between us. After all that's what Friendship Day is all about!

On the 30th of July each class was paired up with another class to eat lunch together, the goal being to make new friends from a different grade. After lunch the Year Sixes and their prep buddies did a fun activities like making friendship bracelets and colorful bookmarks that had kind phrases on them. We had so much fun hanging out with our prep buddies and doing arts & crafts with them. We hope that all the grades had fun with their paired class for lunch and made a couple of new friends!

Last week we had Prep Buddies where we, the year 6s, bonded with our preps. I have partner that shares the same buddy as me. It was also International Friendship Day so in the task we were learning about when Friendship Day was created and why it was created. International Friendship Day is celebrated on July 30th. My partner, my prep buddy and I, had two activities to choose from. We could make a friendship bracelet using beads or we could colour in a Friendship Day bookmark. My buddy chose the friendship day bracelet. I taught my prep buddy how to put the first bead on. He then went on to the rest of the beads and it went good with only a few beads dropping, but that was okay because they were practicing their fine motor skills.
