A once in a lifetime opportunity

Life experiences can add significantly to the development and achievements of young people.

The Languages Domain at Nossal High School proudly offers two excellent programs that provide our students with the opportunity to experience life and education in two overseas settings, both with the security and confidence of travel with peers and experienced staff. Our school has international links with schools in Japan and France and in 2024 a study tour will be visiting our Sister School, Chosei High School in Japan.

Also in 2024, Nossal will be hosting a student delegation from Lycee Felix le Dantec, a French Science and Technology High School. In the last edition of the Nossal Newsletter, Year 11 student Lovidu Fernando reported on the highly successful visit 16 of our students, accompanied by three staff, made to France at the end of last term. (You can read Lovidu’ report here). For those who participated, it was an outstanding opportunity to extend and further develop their French language skills by being immersed in a French family in Lannion, (North Western  France) while visiting other impressive sites including the grand Mont Saint Michel Abbey.

As Loviudu also noted, the group enjoyed two castles, Château de Chenonceau and Château de Chambord. While in Paris they travelled using the metro to visit the Eiffel Tour, the Louvre Museum, the Champs Élysées, Montmartre, Sacré Cœur Basilica, the River Seine and the Palais de Versailles.

Opportunities are now open for 2024

We are now recruiting host students and their families who would like to host a French student for a week in February, next year. In conjunction with Lycee Felix le Dantec, Nossal staff will arrange the program of experiences for our visitors which include some activities to involve host 'parents, brothers and sisters'.

Experience suggests, the friendships forged during a stay like this become life long and will in no doubt contribute to the choice of Nossal students making the return trip to France in 2025 while also consolidating the links during the recent tour.

To find out more about what is involved in being a host family and to record your interest, please respond to Madame Sly (Yvonne.Sly@nossalhs.vic.edu.au) as soon as possible. Initial planning for the le Dantec visit has begun and it is important for us to identify our host families soon.

Please consider your family's participation in this wonderful opportunity.
