Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
As the term ends, the sun is shining, and we all look forward to the Grand Final and a bit of break.
The ten week term has flown by. The highlights for me have been the dance concert nights, our school speaking competitions, the inter-school speaking competition, the 5/6 Day Of The Notable and no more strike days! But it has been a term packed with learning opportunities for our beautiful children.
Congratulations to the Prep Team that put on a great father’s day soccer match. Apparently, the students won the game and had a great time. Thanks to all the dads that came to make the day full of fun! And the Prep Team who were so inclusive of all.

Check out a range of photos from our two big nights this week. Thank you to all of our parents that supported the concert nights. It was a huge success and made me smile on both nights!

Every year our 5/6 boys compete against Badger Creek P.S. Yarra Junction P.S. and Healesville P.S. Last year we finished on top. This week the boys were again awesome with the result being that we easily accounted for Badger Creek in the first game, after trailing Yarra Junction in the last half of the second came the boys came back to win. The third game against Healesville was tight and ended in a draw.
The grand final game was against Yarra Junction with the result being a huge 48 point win to Woori. A big well done to our boys for their sportsmanship and a big thank you to Mr Gibbons for organising and coaching on the day.

Below are our term three Steps winners. Steps winners are students that show great manners, think about others and do the best they can in class. These wonderful students will enjoy a scrumptious morning tea with me second week back in term 4 when Sandy returns from long service leave.

Every year we have students in grade 5 and 6 that sit scholarship exams. Chelsea Bonfield has made us very proud by blitzing the exam for Billanook College this year and gaining a scholarship. What a wonderful moment for the whole Bonfield family, who have been such a big part of our school.

Just a reminder that teachers cannot fill noodle cups for student lunches. Noodle cups require very hot water. This is a health safety issue due to the potential for burns to occur.

Congratulations to the following Preps that will be joining our Junior School Council for the rest of the year. We look forward to their leadership.
Prep A – Olivia Kelly

Prep B – Maelee Brennan

Prep C – Cleo Verhoef

The excellence award goes to the student the teacher has judged as the best student for the term. Taking into account, the school’s values, academic growth, persistence and manners.
Congratulations to this term’s excellence award winners. Special mention to Dixi who becomes our first ever student to win this award 8 times and have a red badge.

Amelia Hughes and Dixi Schaak-Taylor competed in the Rotary inter-school speaking competition on Wednesday night. They were up against students from Yering P.S. Wandin Nth P.S. and Don Valley. There was some stiff competition however the toastmaster judges placed Dixi first and Amelia in second place.
We have now won this competition 14 out of the past 15 years, which is an incredible run but demonstrates how well our school prepares students for speaking in public. Something I am obviously really proud of.

I hope all our families have a wonderful spring break. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful grand final day even though Carlton are not in it. But don’t worry next year is definitely the year of the Blue. Personally, I hope Fremantle can win this year, only because they have never won a premiership.
Don’t forget that spring time is the perfect time to read! This might not inspire a lot of you, but I recently watched the Tampa Crisis on ABC iView. It made me think about John Howard as Prime Minister, so I’ve picked up his biography Lazarus Rising. The one thing I got from the Tampa Crisis Documentary, was that he certainly was a Prime Minister that did not cave in to pressure.

See you in a couple of weeks.
