Principal's Report 

Term 3, Week 9

     Looking Ahead – Teaching,             Learning and 2027 Planning

As we move towards the end of Term 3, there is already plenty happening behind the scenes as we plan for an exciting 2027.

I have been working alongside Principals from other schools in our network to review and report on our progress against our Annual Implementation Plan goals. We are also involved in a cluster project focused on improving mathematics outcomes and strengthening the transition of learning from Year 5 through to Year 9. It has been wonderful to work collaboratively with other schools, share ideas and consider how we can continue to strengthen learning outcomes for our students.

Our network has also recently come together to share our experiences and progress with the THRIVE program, continuing our commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of the whole child.

      Father’s Day Celebration

Our Father’s Day event was a huge success!

We were incredibly fortunate to have beautiful sunshine, which made it the perfect morning to welcome more than 200 dads and special people into our school.

It was wonderful to see dads touring the school, playing games with their children and spending time in classrooms. The morning was relaxed, positive and full of smiles.

A huge thank you to our local community supporters who helped make the morning extra special through the provision of coffee, breakfast rolls and raffle prizes. Your generosity is always appreciated.

We held the event in the morning this year as we also had our 100% Attendance Awards being presented at assembly. Next year, we are hoping to explore an afternoon format so that we can make the most of the day and provide even more opportunities for families to connect with our school.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a wonderful celebration.

                 Colour Run

There has been an enormous amount of planning happening behind the scenes for our upcoming Colour Run, and the excitement amongst our students is certainly building!

Our School Council fundraising team has worked tirelessly to organise an event that will be both incredibly fun for students and contribute to some important playground improvements for our school.

And, of course, the sliming is already generating plenty of excitement!

A huge thank you to the School Council subcommittee for taking on this project. With our PFC currently in recess, it was important to us that we continued to find ways to raise funds and invest directly back into our students and their school.

Perhaps by 2028, some of our families may be inspired to join the School Council fundraising team or help us reinvigorate our PFC. Events such as these demonstrate just how much we can achieve when our community comes together.

There is a great deal of work already underway to prepare for next year.

Workforce planning has commenced, including confirming our Foundation enrolments, determining the number of classes required and identifying staff returning from leave. This is an important process to ensure we have the right structures and staffing in place to support our students in 2027.

Our booklists and parent payment information have also been prepared and will be published early next term. We know that planning ahead helps families manage expenses, and we will continue to look for ways to keep costs as reasonable as possible.

Before booklists are published, teachers will send home any excess materials students already have, helping families understand exactly what needs to be purchased.

Next term, we will also begin the process of building our 2027 classes. Further information about how we develop balanced and equitable classes will be shared with families before this process begins.

Our Year 5 students are already preparing for their transition into Year 6 leadership roles.

We are developing a comprehensive Student Leadership process, including role descriptions, responsibilities, expectations, application processes and a clear rubric to ensure students have a fair and transparent opportunity to apply for leadership positions.

We are also reviewing the responsibilities of our Student Executive Leaders (SELs) and have developed an action plan for their second year of implementation in 2027. We are excited to continue building student voice and leadership across our school.

Our Year 5 students have also been involved in designing the 2027 Year 6 hoodie through a design competition. The winning ideas are now with our creative artist, who is working to bring the students' designs together. We can't wait to see the final product!

There are some important changes to the Department’s digital device program for 2027 that families should be aware of.

Schools will no longer operate a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Students who currently own their own school device will, however, be able to continue using it until the end of their primary school years. This is why we have not held a BYOD information session for our current Year 4 students.

There will also be a maximum of 90 minutes of device use per day, with learning programs and experiences adjusted accordingly.

Our Mobile Device Policy will also be updated to align with Department expectations for 2027. Further information will be shared with families and made available through our school website.

We are almost there with our roofing works – thank goodness!

We are now in the final stages, with repairs currently being completed in the senior school wing. The junior school courtyard has been closed to ensure everyone's safety while this work is completed.

The final stage is expected to be completed over the school break, which means we can finally look forward to the next exciting project – our basketball court upgrade!

We anticipate work commencing around the middle of October. This is a project we have been eagerly awaiting, and we are incredibly excited to see it take shape for our students.

Staff Car Park

A friendly but important reminder that the staff car park is for staff only.

Please do not use staff car spaces when dropping off or collecting students.

The Kings Swimming car park is reserved for families who are attending swimming lessons. We have unfortunately had a number of situations where families attending swimming have been unable to park appropriately and have had to carry babies and toddlers from nearby streets.

We ask everyone to be respectful of these arrangements and to consider how our actions affect other members of our community. This expectation also applies to sport training before school. By following these simple guidelines, we are demonstrating our school values of Respect, Resilience and Citizenship.

After-School Supervision

Please remember that staff supervision of the school grounds operates from:

• 8:45–9:00am in the morning, 3:30–3:45pm in the afternoon

Outside of these times, students should not be left unsupervised in the school grounds.

Can you believe we are already nearing the end of Term 3?

A reminder that there will be no assembly on the final day of term, as we will be celebrating together with our Footy Parade. Students will also finish at the earlier time of 2:30pm.

As we head towards the end of another incredibly busy term, I want to thank our entire community for your ongoing support.

I always seem to have a TO DO list in front of me, but recently I was encouraged to stop and have a TA DA moment instead – to take a moment to reflect on what we have actually achieved.

When I look back over the past 18 months, I am genuinely amazed at how much we have accomplished together.

There is still plenty to do, but there is also so much to celebrate.

I am incredibly proud of Langwarrin Park Primary School – our wonderful students, our dedicated staff and our supportive families. It is an absolute privilege to lead such a great school and such a wonderful community.

Thank you for everything you contribute to making Langy Park the best school in the whole entire state!
