Exciting Day at Monash University: Year 12 Students Dive into Future Possibilities

What an exhilarating first day of 2024 for our Year 12 students!

The entire cohort of Year 12 teachers and students spent the day at Monash University. It was a day filled with eye-opening insights about the exciting world of higher education.

Our journey began with a warm welcome from Monash, where students were introduced to the diverse range of programs and opportunities available. From cutting-edge courses to groundbreaking research, Monash University showcased the endless possibilities that await our graduating students.

The day's agenda was packed with engaging sessions designed to empower our students. Principal Amy Porter and Assistant Principal Amanda Jacobs delivered an enlightening lecture on study skills and brain science, equipping our students with valuable tools to excel academically.   This included an evidence-based approach to learning and memory ' Spaced Practice'.

A highlight of the day was the keynote address by Tim Jacobs, CEO of "Who Gives a Crap." Tim's inspiring story resonated deeply with our students, emphasizing the

importance of passion, purpose, and making a positive impact in the world.

However, the Alumni Learner Experience captured the day's true essence. Former Sandringham College students shared their personal journeys, reflecting on their Year 12 experiences and the pathways they embarked on post-graduation. Their stories, filled with ups, downs, and valuable lessons learned, left a lasting impression on our students as they chart their own paths forward.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Monash University for hosting us and providing our students with such a memorable and enriching experience.

As educators, witnessing our students' enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day reaffirmed our commitment to supporting them on their journey toward a bright and successful future.

We look forward to continuing to nurture and empower our Year 12 students as they embark on the next chapter of their academic and professional endeavours.
