Activities and Events
GRANDPARENTS DAY
It was heartwarming to see such a huge crowd in attendance for our Grandparents Day celebration last term. Following a lovely picnic lunch in the sun, our grandparents and families were treated to a wonderful whole school assembly with an array of performances from each stage group as well as the St FX 42 piece School Band.
Our visitors were then welcomed into the classrooms to view some of the children's work and/or complete an activity sheet. A huge thank you to the staff for organising the celebration as well as to the families who attended.
NAIDOC WEEK
During the last week of last term we celebrated NAIDOC Week! Our special NAIDOC Week assembly was hosted by Darcy Mercer-Knight and Hailem Roberts. At assembly, we introduced two new NAIDOC awards.
The first was the NAIDOC Merit Awards. This award was presented to one Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student from each year who participates in activities that promote connection to culture and community, shows a consistent love of learning, displays a commitment to being safe, values, respects and cares for all members of the St Francis Xavier's community and demonstrates individual personal growth.
Well done Noah Gillmore, Mary Smith, Kenwood Burgmann, Parker Slack-Smith, Weston Burgmann, Eden Gordon and Ezrah Watene who received this award.
The second award is the introduction of the Perpetual NAIDOC Award that is presented to one Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student in Year 6 who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment and excellence across a range of activities including leadership, academic commitment and progress, community service, cultural commitments and a positive attitude to school.
A huge congratulations to Hailem Roberts who received this award!
Our assembly concluded with the traditional cutting of the cake. Thank you to our Elders Jackie Jones and Marilyn Binge for accepting the honour.
We also concluded our NAIDOC Week festivities with a whole school BBQ sausage sizzle lunch on the last day of school.
Thank you to Miss Maddy and Mr Hynch for organising our NAIDOC celebrations as well as our special guests who attended assembly.
MADD NIGHT DRESS REHEARSAL
Last Term, on Wednesday 3rd July, our Year 6 students attended a dress rehearsal at Narrabri High School in preparation for their annual MADD Night performance.
The students were entertained by a series of musical performances encompassing their theme for this year - ‘Seasons of Love’.
Thank you to Narrabri High School for inviting our students.
LIVING WELL, LEARNING WELL BLANKET AND TINNED FOOD DRIVE
On the last day of Term 2, we welcomed a very special guest to assembly. Mr Rily from the Narrabri St Vincent de Paul Society attended and was presented with the donations from our Living Well, Learning Well Blanket and Tinned Food Drive held last term.
A huge thank you to our families and school community for supporting this very worthy cause, with the items being distributed to those in need.
