Grade 5/6 Camp Reflections

On Wednesday 4th March to Friday 6th March, the Year 5/6 students embarked on a camping trip to The Ranch on the Mornington Peninsula. The goal of the camp was to encourage students to “have a go” and challenge themselves, and it was wonderful to see this goal achieved by all. Throughout the camp, students stepped outside their comfort zones, supported one another, and embraced new experiences.
During the camp, students participated in a variety of exciting activities including the giant swing, leap of faith, mountainboarding, Horse Riding 101, a night hike, and board and card games. These activities provided opportunities for students to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and create lasting memories with their classmates.
Here are a few thoughts and reflections from some of our Year 5/6 students:
I showed courage by encouraging people in rock climbing so they would give it their best shot and try to get to the top. My confidence grew by believing in myself and giving my best shot at everything. I got to know new people in my activity group and my cabin. I loved horse riding because we got to take them for a walk by ourselves and we got to sit on the horse and go for a little walk.

When I was scared I did one more step and I encouraged others by chanting ‘you can do it’. My confidence grew because even when I was scared I still tried to do more. I liked sharing my cabin with other people because you get to know more people and make more friends. I loved doing the activities with new people . I think the camp was amazing

I showed courage at camp by making it to the top of the rock climbing wall even though I'm scared of heights and by giving things a go. My confidence grew by doing things I normally wouldn't do. I met a lot of new people, mostly because of the group I was in there were a lot of people that I didn't know so I got to meet them. A positive thing about sharing a cabin with others was because of 2 reasons, my first reason is that I got to meet new people, my second reason is that I wouldn't be alone at night. I had a really good time and made some new friends from my cabin.

I showed courage when I went to the top of the giant swing. In challenges I gave them a go and tried my best. What I really loved about camp is that I got to have fun and hang out with my friends. It was lots of fun.

Ella 5/6 Yellow
I showed courage at camp by giving mountainboarding a try. My confidence grew because I pushed myself to the best of my ability in all the activities. I got to know others because I was good with making jokes with the people in my group and cabin. I liked who was in my group and how they were supportive and I could joke with them.
