GWR Senior and Intermediate Badminton

On Wednesday the 10th of June, Beaufort Secondary College had three teams compete in the GWR Badminton competition at Ken Kay stadium in Ballarat. Hazel Coleman, Courtney Armeni, Izzy Cahill and Skye Dridan made up our intermediate girls team. They fought hard throughout the day, only to finish third in the competition by 3 points. The team work shown in doubles was admirable and the girls were in high spirits all day. 

Evalyn Hayward, Meg Lyons, Rhianna Godfrey, Pippa Vandenberg and Zaihret Temam were our senior girl representatives. The girls did an outstanding job, consistently displaying our school values by putting in 100% effort, being respectful to team mates and the opposition, taking responsibility to score games and ensuring they arrived at games on time. With some great rallies and returns, the girls came fourth, missing out on third place by 1 point. 

Our senior boys team consisted of Tom Kehoe, Emmett Tiley, Billy Welsh and Max Kehoe. The boys played 4 back-to-back games and despite no overall wins, they managed to get a few singles wins and a doubles win here and there. Tom Kehoe played some great, high intensity rallies while Billy returned some sharp shots and Emmett and Max made a solid team for doubles.  They boys showed great sportsmanship and had a lot of fun, placing 5th in their division. 

Well done to all students for representing BSC so well. We couldn’t be prouder of your efforts.
