Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week is the last week of the Term and 1st Semester. The children have done a wonderful job working hard right through to the very end. On behalf of all the staff I would like to thank and congratulate the children on their fantastic achievements. I would also like to thank the parents for their contributions and ongoing support in the education of their children. We pray that everyone has a safe and restful holiday and that we all return refreshed and ready to start the second half of the year.

Lord,

As we approach our mid-year break, we pray for ourselves and for our world.

We thank you for the luxury of holidays, for refreshment and rest from work.

We pray for those without the luxury of holidays. May your peace be known in their daily lives.

We pray for health and for all whose holiday is an escape from over-busy or unfulfilled lives.

We pray for justice and fairness for those in our third world countries who are underpaid and overworked, and those who are struggling with the ongoing effects of war and fighting.

Lord, make yourself known to us afresh, that all our days may become holy days, to the glory of your name.

Amen.

Learning Conversations

On Tuesday and Wednesday Learning Conversations were held in the school library and MPR. This was a great opportunity for children, parents and teachers to celebrate and discuss overall achievements throughout the first half of the year, and to look at future goals as we move into second semester. Thank you to all parents for your support of this method of reporting. The response again has been extremely positive and we look forward to holding them again at the end of Term 4.

Swimming P-2 Program

A reminder to all parents that our P-2 swimming program commences in the second week of next term. The children will go every Thursday from the 23rd July to 3rd September. Please look on PAM to give permission for your child to participate. If you do not wish for your child to participate, can you let the office and classroom teachers know ASAP, as we have to finalise numbers before the end of term.

Prep Enrolments for 2027

Prep enrolments will be finalised by early next term. Therefore, if you have any extended family or friends intending on enrolling their child next year, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this information on to them, so they can arrange for a meeting and a tour of the school. I request all existing families that have a child starting in Prep next year, submit their enrolment form as soon as possible.

Fun Food / Casual Clothes Day

A reminder that tomorrow is Fun Food Day so please don’t pack too much into children’s lunch boxes. The children are also invited to wear casual clothes for the final day of the term with the theme being soccer/Australia, as the Socceroos take on Paraguay in the World Cup at 12pm tomorrow.

Merger of Catholic Parishes

On Thursday July 1 the Catholic Parishes of Apollo Bay, Cororooke and Colac, including Lorne, Birregurra and Pirron Yallock, will merge and become Emmaus Catholic Parish - Colac, Lakes to Coast. Fr Andrew said this week that the merger, similar to what has happened in most parishes in our diocese, will allow for greater cooperation and support among communities. Church names will remain the same. Mass times will also remain the same.

Mick and Jodie Leave

I will be on leave from the 13th July, returning back to school at the start of week 6, Monday 17th August. Jodie Hassett will be on leave for the first 3 weeks of next term. Should the need arise, please be sure to make contact with Judy Carr or Paula Parish in mine and Jodie’s absence. Thank you for your ongoing support and I will look forward to seeing you all on my return next term.

Enjoy the rest of your week and the well-earned holiday break.
