The RRRR (Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships) focus for this term is Positive Coping. (Topic 3).

The aim of this topic is for students to:

• identify ways that they are different from one another and the different ways they manage stress.

• explore how emotional responses can be stronger and weaker, and practise using words that can help them explain the level of emotion they’re experiencing.

• discuss the reasons why they get angry and practise ways to calm down and stay in control when they feel angry.

• develop their own coping strategies for when they feel angry and get opportunities to practise these strategies.

• describe the kinds of actions that can hurt or upset others and practise ways to apologise when they hurt someone.

Students will explore:

  • the influence of people, situations, and events on their emotions
  • strategies to manage physical, social, and emotional changes
  • safe and appropriate responses to uncomfortable situations
  • the importance of self-discipline and goal setting in coping with challenges
  • how to identify personal strengths and apply coping strategies to manage change

We will also apply these understandings to build resilience and positive coping strategies for our Year 4 Camp. Students will enagage with a range of camp scenerios and explore common social situations that occur and how to best deal with them. Through these lessons, students will build strategies for emotional regulation, and managing stress effectively while away at camp.

Inform and Empower - Cyber Safety

They will learm how to identify 'red flags,' and avoid unsafe online interactions.
