Reflection

Yesterday, on the 29th of April, the Church celebrated the feast day of St Catherine of Siena. Born in Italy in the 14th century, St Catherine is one of the most remarkable saints in our Church’s history and holds the esteemed title of a "Doctor of the Church" for her profound theological writings and deep spirituality.

What makes St Catherine so inspiring for our students today is her incredible courage and conviction. Despite living in a time when women were rarely given a public voice, Catherine was a bold peacemaker. She wrote letters to kings, queens, and even the Pope, urging them to seek peace, unity, and truth. She was never afraid to stand up for what was right, using her voice to bring about positive change in a fractured world.

St Catherine is perhaps best known for her famous and inspiring quote: "Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire." As we reflect on her feast day this week, this quote serves as a beautiful reminder for our entire school community. We pray that our students continue to discover their unique God-given gifts, and like St Catherine, use their voices and talents to bring peace, truth, and a fiery passion for good into our world.

Prayer

Loving God,

You gave St Catherine of Siena the courage to speak the truth

and the passion to bring peace to her world.

Inspire us to follow her example.

Give us the bravery to stand up for what is right,

and the grace to be exactly who You created us to be.

May our words and actions set the world on fire

with Your love and kindness.

St Catherine of Siena, pray for us.

Amen.

St Carlo Acutis Exhibition

Today was an enriching and spiritual day for our school community as all of our students had the opportunity to explore the life and legacy of St Carlo Acutis.

Each class presentation began in the school library, which was transformed to host a dedicated St Carlo Acutis exhibition. Students were able to walk through the displays, learning about this remarkable modern-day saint who is celebrated for his deep devotion to the Eucharist and his impressive computer skills.

Following the exhibition, the students participated in interactive workshops led by the Immaculata Team. These sessions allowed the children to dive deeper into Carlo’s story, discovering how a young person in the modern world lived a life so profoundly dedicated to faith, kindness, and helping others. The Immaculata Team did a wonderful job of making his life relatable and inspiring for our students.

To conclude the workshops, the students and staff gathered in the church for a Blessed Exposition. This time of Eucharistic Adoration provided a quiet, sacred space for the students to pray, reflect on the workshops, and experience the very presence of Jesus that St Carlo Acutis loved so dearly.

We extend our thanks to the Immaculata Team for guiding our students through such a meaningful experience earlier today.

Mass and Blessed Exposition, Friday 8th May at 11.30am

As we settle into the new term, there is no better way to bring our school community together than through prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist.

Our students and staff will be gathering for our first whole-school Mass and Blessed Exposition of the term on Friday, 8th May. The celebration will take place at St Patrick's Catholic Church, commencing at 11:30 am.

We would love to share this special occasion with you! A warm invitation is extended to all parents, grandparents, friends, and parishioners to come and join us.
