Reading

This term, we will continue to develop our reading skills, using our reading tools and some CAFE strategies to build our comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expression. We will be practising these skills during our Readers Theatre unit, which is highly enjoyed by Year 1 and 2 children!

The CAFE strategies we will be focusing on this term include:

  • Infer and Support with Evidence
  • Compare and Contrast within and between texts
  • Use main ideas and supporting details to determine importance
  • Make and adjust predictions, use text to confirm
  • Determine and analyse author’s purpose and support with text

Writing

We have started the term with a focus on punctuation throughout our writing, this has seen our children write wonderful recounts about their holidays and participate in Creativity Crackers where they are encouraged to just write - without over thinking.

Throughout this term we will be exploring narratives, vocabulary, metaphors and similes, antonyms and synonyms and letter writing.
