Swimming Trials
Last Thursday, 26 of our students trialled for a place in the upcoming Sandhurst and Goldfields Division Swimming Championships at the end of February. To qualify, students were required to meet specific times set by School Sport Victoria (SSV).
All students who attended should be extremely proud of their efforts in the pool and the way they conducted themselves while representing our school in a public setting.
Congratulations to Ava H, Grace C, Lily C, Cara M, Fletcher A, George S, Matilda S, Emma C, Emilia C, Tia N, Alice G and Stella A, who successfully qualified across a range of individual and relay events. St Monica’s will be very well represented by this talented group of swimmers, and we wish them every success at the championships.
These trials would not have been possible without the generous support of our wonderful parent volunteers, who gave their time to ensure our students had this opportunity. Sincere thanks to Kirsti Hundt, Kath Carman, Briana Andrews, Leonie Chivers and Kim Sheldon. We truly appreciate your support.
Cross Country
Our annual Cross Country event is fast approaching and will be held on Tuesday, 24th February. Students have been building their fitness and preparing during our PE sessions. To help them feel confident and ready on the day, I have been encouraging students to continue practising and improving their endurance outside of school hours as well.
Please refer to the flyer for further information, including race times and event details.
We are currently seeking parent volunteers to assist on the day. Events such as this cannot run successfully without your support, and at this stage we have only a small number of volunteers. If you are available to help, please contact me via email. If you have not yet completed your 2026 volunteer forms, please get in touch with the school office to finalise this prior to the event.
Thank you in advance for your support—we look forward to a fantastic day!
Whole School Athletics
This year, our Whole School Athletics Carnival will be held at the end of Term 1. By aligning the event with the conclusion of the regular athletics season, we are hopeful of enjoying nice weather for a fantastic day of competition and participation.
The carnival will take place on Monday, 23rd March at La Birpa Athletics Track.
In the coming weeks, students will begin preparing for their events during Physical Education sessions.
We are currently seeking parent volunteers to assist on the day. Events such as this rely heavily on the support of our school community. If you are available to help, please contact me via email. If you have not yet completed your 2026 volunteer forms, please contact the school office to finalise this prior to the event.
