2024/25 Summer Sport Season

At the recent Summer Sports assembly,we come together to celebrate the incredible achievements of our community over the recent summer season. It is with immense pride that I recognise the hard work, dedication, and excellence each one of you has demonstrated.

While scores and ladders are important, what truly stands out is the unwavering attitude and TC Spirit displayed by our students. Your resilience, sportsmanship, and camaraderie go far beyond the playing field, and these qualities will serve you well in all areas of your lives. At Trinity College, we cultivate not only athletes but also individuals of strong character.

I would like to take a moment to express my sincere thanks to all the staff, external coaches, and TC alumni who have shared their expertise and passion to coach our students throughout the season. Your guidance and dedication have been vital in shaping our athletes into the fantastic individuals they are today. We deeply appreciate your commitment to Trinity College.

A special mention goes to Mr. Phil Jurjevich, Mr. Mark Beer, Mr. Lachlan Chapman, and our outstanding rowing team for their remarkable performance at the Head of the River Regatta. Their achievement in securing the 17th Hamer Cup—breaking the previous record of 16 set by Trinity in 2024—is truly exceptional.

I am also excited to announce the triumphant season of our 1st VI Volleyball team, led by Ms. Maranne Purnell and Mr. David Hedge, who have successfully brought the Brother Carrigg Shield back to Trinity College after a 9-year hiatus. Their unwavering determination and resilience embody the core values we cherish at Trinity College.

As we celebrate our successes, let us remember the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and supporting one another. Together, we achieve great things, and together, we will continue to strive for excellence in everything we do. In closing, I remind all our students that success is measured not only by victories, but by the character you build, the friendships you form, and the spirit you embody as you proudly wear the blue and green of Trinity College. Though this season has come to a close, our journey continues, and we look forward to the exciting times ahead throughout the Winter season in Trinity sport.

Congratulations to everyone and thank you for your ongoing dedication and hard work.

Service and Contribution Awards

For all other summer sports teams other than the 1sts and A teams, coaches are asked to nominate a student to receive a Service and Contribution award. These awards have a unique place in the Trinity sporting program in that a coach can nominate a student due to various criteria. These could be for the Best and Fairest, Most Improved, Coaches award, or Best Sportsmanship displayed throughout the season.

Fair Game Sports

By Bowie McCabe (11.7)

We are happy to announce that we're working with the incredible charity Fair Game Sports. Fair Game Sports is an Australian charity dedicated to promoting health, social inclusion, and sustainability through sport. It collects and redistributes recycled sports equipment to children in remote and disadvantaged communities, ensuring they have access to the resources needed for an active lifestyle. Alongside this, Fair Game runs health and fitness programs that educate and inspire young people to stay active.

Trinity is choosing to support Fair Game Sports because it aligns with our values of community service, social inclusion, and sustainability. By supporting Fair Game, we're helping provide disadvantaged children with access to sports equipment and health programs, promoting equal opportunities for an active and healthy lifestyle.

Used sports equipment can be donated through the blue bins next to the Head of Year office or the Junior School.

The items we are looking at having in the bins are:

  • AFL footballs, soccer balls, basketballs
  • Footy boots
  • Soccer shin pads
  • Runners/sneakers
  • Large sports bags in good condition (e.g. Cricket bags)
  • Smaller backpacks, in good condition only
  • Unused drink bottles

Please do not place the following items in the bin:

  • General rubbish
  • Sports clothing and uniforms (except team sets of bibs)
  • Helmets (baseball, cricket or bike – due to safety reasons)
  • Golf clubs (try Golf WA)
  • Trophies or medals
  • Hats
  • Used drink bottles
  • Any item that is broken, worn out or not suitable for current use e.g. old style tennis rackets.

If you have other items that are not on the list, please contact Mr Corey Miskiewicz miskiewicz.corey@trinity.wa.edu.au to see if the donation can be accepted. We encourage everyone to think of the greater good and support the charity, for the betterment of all sports lovers.
