Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 4 Camp: Fun and Adventure at Camp Wyuna!

Our Year 4 students recently returned from their very first overnight school camp experience at Camp Wyuna in Queenscliff, and what an unforgettable adventure it was!

Despite some inclement weather trying to dampen our plans, the spirits of our Year 4s could not be crushed. Armed with raincoats, smiles, and an awesome sense of adventure, the students dove headfirst into all the outdoor activities. From exploring the beautiful coastal environment to team-building challenges, they showed incredible resilience and a positive, "can-do" attitude throughout the entire trip.

An experience like this simply isn't possible without an amazing team working behind the scenes and on the ground.

  • To our wonderful teachers and school staff: Thank you for your tireless energy, late-night supervision, and for supporting our students through all the big emotions that come with a first overnight camp.
  • To the families: Thank you for working so closely with us in the lead-up to camp, especially with organising medications and helping prepare the students for this milestone event.

We are so incredibly proud of how our Year 4 students represented themselves and our school. Welcome back, campers!

Week 6 Assembly: Student Awards & Important Parent Information

We are looking forward to our upcoming Week 6 assembly on Monday 25th May @ 2.30pm where we will be celebrating the wonderful achievements of our students and presenting several groups with awards and special recognition.

  • MacKa Awards: Please be sure to check out the MacKa Award page in this newsletter to see if your child is on the list to receive an award this week!
  • Parents and Carers Welcome: We love having our community join us to celebrate our students' success, and families are warmly invited to attend.

Important Notice Regarding Parent Seating

To ensure the assembly runs smoothly and safely, please note that parent seating will be located at the back of the hall.

The side areas of the hall must be kept completely clear, as these spaces are required for school staff to assist with the close supervision and support of our students. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping these areas free for staff.

Car Park Safety & Protocols: Protecting Our Students 🚗⚠️

At St. Simon’s, the safety and well-being of all members of the community is always our highest priority. To ensure our car park remains a secure environment during the busy morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times, we ask all families to strictly adhere to the following safety protocols:

Important "Kiss & Drop" Rules

  • Driver Must Remain in the Vehicle: If you are using the "Kiss & Drop" drive-thru lane, your child must be able to independently exit the car on their own. Drivers must not leave the vehicle under any circumstances in this lane, as this causes traffic jams and creates safety hazards. If your child needs assistance, please park your car in a designated parking bay instead.
  • Exit on the Left-Hand Side Only: For the safety of your children, students should never enter or exit a vehicle from the right-hand side (the driver's side). Exiting into the right lane puts them at immediate risk from moving through-traffic. Please ensure your child only uses the left-hand doors closest to the footpath.

Entering via Gate 4 (Peak Times)

  • PLEASE Do Not Block the Footpath: When entering Gate 4 during peak times, parents are reminded not to queue across or block the pedestrian footpath crossing. Please wait until there is clear space ahead for your vehicle to completely clear the crossing before making your turn.
  • Turning Right into Gate 4: Drivers turning right into Gate 4 are permitted to turn directly into the right-hand lane of the car park. Once safely inside the parish/school site, you can then merge into the left lane. This helps keep traffic flowing smoothly on the main road.

Thank you to all our families for your cooperation, patience, and commitment to keeping our school community safe!
