Foundation News ~ Preps

As part of our unit on Our Town and the People Who Help Us, the Prep students were excited to welcome some local firefighters to our school. The firefighters even brought their fire truck along, making it a very special visit!

The highlight for many students was having the chance to spray the fire hose and climb inside the truck. There were lots of smiles and excitement as the children explored the vehicle and learned about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe.

The firefighters taught us about the difference between good fires and bad fires, what to do if we encounter smoke ("Get down low and go, go, go!"), the importance of having working smoke alarms, and the emergency number to call in Australia - 000.

Our Prep students were incredibly engaged throughout the visit and asked many wonderful questions. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that helped bring our learning to life and gave us a greater appreciation for the people who help keep our community safe.

St Mel's Breaky Club:

Come for breaky… second breakfast… or even third breakfast — all are welcome!

Our new Foundation students enjoyed trying out Breakfast Club for the first time and it’s safe to say they absolutely loved it! There were smiles, full tummies and a wonderful sense of community to start the day.

Breakfast Club is a beautiful way to gather, connect and ensure everyone begins the morning feeling nourished and ready to learn.

We look forward to welcoming more students as we continue to grow this special initiative.
