Werte,
At Living Waters Lutheran School, we believe every learner is created for relationship, gifted with purpose, and called to flourish. One of the simplest yet most powerful ways we support this journey is through regular school attendance.
Why Attendance Matters
Academic Success: Learning builds day by day. Consistent attendance helps students stay engaged, confident, and connected to their learning journey.
Wellbeing and Belonging: School is a place of community. Being present nurtures relationships, strengthens emotional wellbeing, and fosters a sense of belonging.
Flourishing Futures: Attendance helps students develop habits of commitment, curiosity, and compassion - values that shape who they are becoming.
We understand that absences happen. When they do, please stay in touch so we can support your child’s learning and wellbeing. Together, let’s continue to grow learners who are purposeful, relational, compassionate, and adventurous, free to flourish in every way.
Camping Season
Thanks to the staff and parents for their help with The Nest camp. It was by all accounts chilly but fun. Next camps off the rank are the Alice camp and the Year 6 Canberra trip. These camps take a huge amount of extra time and effort to plan and implement and wouldn’t be possible without the amazing community we have here at Living Waters. The camps stimulate new learning or consolidate a term's worth of work and are opportunities for social, emotional and spiritual growth.
POTS Disco
Thanks to POTS for organising such a great community event. The dancing was spectacular and the outfits dazzling. It was great to come together for such a fun social occasion.
Blessings,
Lisa
This week in worship I asked the students to close their eyes and imagine a world before electricity – no street lights, no house lights, no electronic devices! Think how different it would be coming home at night and not being able to flick a switch to make everything light up.
Jesus tells a story about a man coming home from a wedding banquet (Luke 12:35-40). His servants had been given the task to keep the oil lamps burning. In Jesus’ day, this was how you welcomed someone home and helped them see where they where going.
I took my oil lamp in to show the students and we managed to get it lit. The students then sat back and thought about what it would be like if this little flame was the main source of light in their homes. It can be quite mesmerizing to just watch a little flame flicker away.
Jesus encourages us to keep our flames burning until the day he comes again. This might include the flames of faith, hope and love. This might mean helping others see the goodness of God or the opportunities he has give them.
The Bible also says that Jesus is the ‘light of life’ and that those who follow him never walk in darkness. When things seem dark or dangerous, it is good to remember that we have a God who lights our way.
Pastor Ben
At Living Waters, we highlight different families and staff members to pray for each week. Praying for people in our community by name shows that we care for them as God does. He knows and loves each of us individually, and when we lift others up in prayer, we recognise their value in His eyes. This strengthens our community by bringing us closer together, reminding us to support and encourage one another.

This week our value focus was on bullying. Bullying can make us feel unsafe and unhappy. It stops us from being who we want to be and can make it hard to learn and be around other people.
If you are being bullied or you see bullying happening, you can do something, be an upstander, do the high 5. If bullying behaviours aren't challenged, it can create an environment where bullying is accepted and where everyone feels powerless to stop it. Bullying is never ok!
Bullying is when one person (or a group of people) with more power than someone else repeatedly tries to upset or hurt them. Bullying in any form can have long-term effects on those involved, including bystanders. Bullying can happen in person or online (cyberbullying) and it can be obvious or hidden. Bullying involves misusing any power that a person has to harm someone else and might involve repeatedly:
physically hurting someone
keeping someone out of a group (online or in person)
saying mean or humiliating things, or spreading rumours or lies
sending nasty messages or inappropriate images online
tagging inappropriate or unflattering images online.
Please discuss bullying with your children and the strategies to use. Let's keep Living Waters a bully free safe space!
