A Message from James Damjanovksi

National Reconciliation Week 2026 – “All In”

During Week 6 and 7, our college proudly recognises National Reconciliation Week 2026, embracing this year’s theme, “All In.” The theme encourages all Australians to actively contribute to reconciliation by learning from the past, strengthening relationships, and walking together toward a more respectful and inclusive future.

At Truganina College, National Reconciliation Week provides an important opportunity for our students, staff, and wider community to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives. Throughout the week, students will participate in classroom learning experiences, discussions, creative activities that promote respect, truth-telling, and unity.

National Reconciliation Week is held annually from 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo Decision respectively. These important events continue to shape Australia’s ongoing journey toward truth, recognition, and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A highlight of the week will be our participation in The Little Long Walk on Thursday 28 May. Inspired by the legacy of Michael Long’s historic 650KM walk to Canberra in 2004, the walk symbolises the journey toward reconciliation and the importance of standing together as a community.

Students and staff will take part in a whole-school ‘Little Long Walk’ around the college grounds while proudly displaying home group posters designed around this year’s “All In” theme. These creative displays will reflect messages of inclusion, connection, respect, and hope for the future.

We encourage our families and community members to engage in conversations about reconciliation at home and to support the important learning taking place across the college this week.
