School Wide Positive Behaviour - 'Westgroovers' Positive Acknowledgment system
Acknowledgment systems in schools are designed to provide immediate and positive feedback to students when they engage in behaviours that are consistent with schoolwide expectations. The goal of offering such feedback is to strengthen expected or desired behaviour over time.
At Westgrove, behaviours are explicitly taught using our Matrix of Expected Behaviours and reinforced using our Westgroover Acknowledgment system. Students displaying expected behaviours can be acknowledged and have that behaviour reinforced with a 'Westgroover' token, aligning with our school values of Respect, Learning, Safety and Inclusivity.
Students' reaching token targets of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 tokens and can select experiences from our Westgroover Menu. Menu items are aimed to provide students with opportunities to build social connections and participate in hands on experiences.
In the yard, students can receive Westgroover Yard tokens which are deposited into our letterboxes and drawn at our weekly assembly.
We encourage you to talk to your child about receiving Westgroover tokens and ask them about our school values and the expected behaviour that they received them for!
