DIVERSITY DAY KABOOM KIDS ACTIVITIES - POSTPONDED

Unfortunately the weather report for tomorrow states a high chance of showers and a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. As a result, we have decided to postpone our Kaboom Kids activities until Monday, 17th November.

Students may still wear casual clothing, some are opting for a Halloween theme and the Halloween dance party at play time will still go ahead.

Appreciations and News

World Teachers’ Day

Thanks to our Parents’ Association for acknowledging World Teachers’ Day (Australia), with an appreciation morning tea today.  Tomorrow is the actual day and is a fine time to share some positive thoughts and appreciation for the amazing people who spend so much time supporting the most important people in your lives!

Grade 5 Kangaroobie Campers

Our campers arrived back safely, late on Friday, after a marvellous experience over the previous few days.  The group very much enjoyed visiting the iconic Twelve Apostles on the return journey.  A very big appreciation to camp organiser, Tim Cannan and all staff and parent helpers, who were absolutely marvellous.  A very big acknowledgement to our grade 5 students who throughout the camp experience showed the best of our values of respect, resilience, responsibility and belonging.

Prep 2026 Prep Transition Visits

On Tuesday we provided the next stage of our comprehensive Prep Transition program, when 4 groups of 2026 Prep students attended a brief and engaging visit to the classrooms hosted by members of next year’s Prep team.

Melbourne Museum Excursion

With a focus on their minibeast learning unit, the grade 1 team headed off on a beautiful Tuesday morning with great enthusiasm to attend the Melbourne Museum.  It was a successful day thanks to the excellent organisation of the team, planned by Michelle and assisted by all the grade 1 team members, members of our Education Support team and parent helpers. We appreciate that our grade ones were not only well prepared, but actively engaged and showed our school values throughout this memorable experience.

Garden Club

What a marvellous picture from the Garden Club on a beautiful spring morning.  Garden Club organiser Mikala commented that the rainbow chard being harvested was a timely link to Diversity Day.

Halloween Theme or Casual Clothes Day

Students may wear casual clothing or a Halloween theme. The Halloween dance party at play time will still go ahead.

Assembly

The weather forecast indicates some likelihood that we may need to hold our assembly indoors tomorrow.

We will of course feature our Pupil of the Week Award winners for week 4, however as we have a bye for sport and no planned grade presentation, there will be less content than usual.  I have heard that Shannon has been working on a special item …

Student Free Curriculum Day - 3rd November, followed by the Melbourne Cup Day Public Holiday

A reminder to families that Monday (3rd November) is a student-free curriculum day for staff who are undertaking report writing for the second semester.

If your child requires care, please book with Their Care, our outside school hours care provider.

This day will also be followed by the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday on Tuesday, 4th November.  School will be closed on this day.

Thank you Morning Tea for 2025 Volunteers

We would like to invite all our volunteers to a special morning tea as a small but tangible appreciation for the dedication and support you have provided this year.  Whether you are a classroom helper, attended camps or excursions, been a School Council or Parents’ Association representative or volunteer, assisted with special events, such as our special persons’ stalls and bake sales and much more. If you have assisted we would love to host you at our International Volunteer Day on Friday, 5th December between 11.30am to 12.10pm in the Dingo gallery space.

Cheers,

Brendan
