'A Welcoming Community Leading the Future of Learning with Faith and Love'

Principal's Updates

Term 2 has been a wonderful and busy time at St John’s Primary School. Our classrooms and playgrounds have been filled with energy, learning and a fantastic community spirit.

Over the past few weeks, our students have shown great focus, resilience and pride in everything they do, including our Geography Expo this week. From exciting sporting achievements, creative arts, research and hands-on learning, it has been a joy to watch our children grow.

Through our wellbeing and pastoral programs, students have also focused on resilience, kindness, looking out for one another and building strong friendships. Their Social Justice actions were evident this week with the amount of food donated for Vinnies and in sharing their learning around Caring for our Common Home in their RE and Geography projects.

A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, wonderful students and supportive families for making this term so successful.

Camp Australia

Thanks to Camp Australia for their support over the past 7 years at St Johns. They have been a very professional and dedicated organisation, supporting our Before and After School Care at St John's. They have worked with us to foster community trust and connections and we have appreciated their expertise and dedication to supporting our students' welfare. I am very grateful to Vineetha who has been a dedicated coordinator at St JOhn's and we wish her all the best at her new school.

Next Term we will welcome MACSEYE, Out of School Hours Care, to St John's. I am pleased they will be offering an exciting new OSHC service at St John's.

Kids Kouncil - 17 June

Evie - Today Georgie and I got the privilege to go to the Kids Kouncil along with many other Year 6 students from schools all over Whitehorse. It was at the Box Hill town hall which is a massive stunning building. We learnt a lot there. Today was mainly about how the Council is renovating the Whitehorse Sports Centre. We gave many opinions and ideas on a sheet of paper on what to add or get rid of before they start the renovation.

There was a very nice morning tea with sushi and chips. We did many fun activities like-team building. We had spaghetti, jumbo marshmallows and tape. We had about 10 minutes to make the tallest tower. It sounds easy but it was very hard! It was all about working together. We also did a 5 minute activity to get to know everyone using m&ms! I felt very grateful to go to this experience and I really enjoyed it.

Georgie - On Wednesday, my friend Evie and I, had the privilege to be chosen to represent our school at the Town Hall in Box Hill to help the Whitehorse Council team plan a renovation of the Nunawading sports centre. Along with lots of other schools from the Whitehorse Council, we gave our opinions and ideas to help the adults shape the environment we live in, making it a better place for everyone.

We did different activities, like a worksheet with different questions to help us get to know each other. We also did a team building activity using pasta, jumbo marshmallows, a certain amount of tape + string and a small marshmallow. I feel so grateful to be able to have the opportunity to represent the whole school. I am so lucky to get this experience and I really enjoyed it!
