Junior School

Mr Tom Nash, Head of Junior School

As we approach the end of what has been a long and full Term 2, I want to take a moment to congratulate the boys on their efforts over the past ten weeks. It's not always easy to push through the grind of a long term—especially when tiredness sets in or motivation dips—but the boys have, on the whole, managed to persist, show up, and continue giving their best. That sense of effort and consistency is something to be proud of.

A sincere thank you also goes to our dedicated staff. Their hard work, care, and commitment to the boys makes a real difference. The term has been full of meaningful learning experiences and positive engagement, and that doesn't happen without the consistent efforts of a hardworking team. While we’ve come a long way, we still have one week to go. I trust the boys will finish the term with the same energy, enthusiasm, and focus that they started it with.

GRIT Awards

Congratulations to our June GRIT Award recipients. As a reminder, GRIT recognises students who show a Growth Mindset, are Respectful, are Inclusive, and Tuned In. Across a long and at times demanding term, these boys have stood out for their ability to keep going even when they’ve felt frustrated, flat or under pressure. These are qualities that matter—not just at school, but in life—and it’s been great to see so many boys demonstrate them.

Live 4 Life

Our Year 8 students have recently completed the Live 4 Life program, a series of sessions designed to promote mental health literacy and encourage students to look out for themselves and others. Through guided workshops and discussions, the boys explored the importance of recognising when someone might be struggling and how to connect them with a trusted adult. Those who completed the course received certificates to acknowledge their participation and learning. We hope this program has equipped the boys with important tools they can carry forward in life.

Liam Duggan Academy

The Liam Duggan Academy has been a standout again this term, with over 100 Junior School boys taking part in high-quality football coaching. It's been fantastic to see such a strong response, with students turning up with enthusiasm each week. We hope the boys have enjoyed the sessions and are beginning to see the results of their hard work out on the field.

House Dodgeball

Another highlight has been the House Dodgeball Tournament, which has captured the attention of many boys during lunchtimes over the past few weeks. The level of participation and House spirit has been impressive, and it’s been great to see friendships and connections grow through this simple but spirited competition. The grand finals will be played in Week 11—Wednesday for Year 7 and Friday for Year 8—and we look forward to seeing how it all plays out.

As the semester draws to a close, students have been completing a range of assessments across their subjects. We’ve seen plenty of thoughtful preparation, and it’s been encouraging to witness boys approaching their work with a sense of purpose. Whether it's through improved study habits, better organisation, or simply learning what works best for them, we hope each student has taken something away from the process that will benefit them in the future.

A reminder that the Semester 2 timetable begins on Monday, 30 June. Students are encouraged to check their schedules and be ready for any new subjects or timetable changes that may differ from earlier in the year.

Finally, thank you to all the boys for a great term, and to our families for their ongoing support. We look forward to a strong finish next week and hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break over the holidays.
