Acting Principal Update

Division Swimming Carnival 🏊♀️
Well done to both Ava and Maya for progressing through to the Regional Swimming Championships, which will be held on Tuesday, 31st March. This is an incredible achievement, and both girls should be so proud of their efforts, because we are certainly proud of you! Wishing them both all the best of luck!
NAPLAN
Our Year 3 and Year 5 students have been completing their NAPLAN assessments over the past two weeks. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals and can be used to improve student achievement.
NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress. NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.
Toastie Thursday 🥪
A huge congratulations to our incredible Student Voice team for their fantastic effort in making and selling over 40 delicious toasties to staff and students! Their hard work, teamwork, and enthusiasm not only brought our school community together but also successfully raised valuable funds for new equipment for our lunchtime clubs. This initiative is a wonderful example of student leadership in action, and we are so proud of their commitment to making a positive difference in our school.
Sub-Committees
We are pleased to announce the establishment of the following sub-committees:
- Education: Reviews curriculum, develops school policies, and supports student wellbeing initiatives.
- Buildings and Grounds: Oversees maintenance and improvements, and coordinates working bees.
- Community Engagement: Strengthens connections between school and community, organises events, and supports fundraising efforts.
If you are interested in joining one of these sub-committees and are able to contribute, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Kate in the office, or speak with Kate or myself for more information. We look forward to continuing to grow as a strong and connected school community.
Harmony Week 🌏🧡
Our school is excited to celebrate Harmony Week this week, a special time to recognise and appreciate the many cultures that make up our school community. Throughout this week, students will take part in fun activities that promote inclusion, respect, and understanding of different backgrounds and traditions. It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn from one another and celebrate the diversity that makes our school such a welcoming place.
This Friday, March 20, we invite students to come to school dressed in cultural clothing that represents their heritage, or to wear orange to show their support for inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone in our community. Throughout the day, students will take part in activities that celebrate the diverse cultures and backgrounds within our school, and we welcome our families to join us in a parade at the end of the day. To help prepare, we encourage families to have a conversation with their child about their heritage. Students are also welcome to bring a small food item from their culture to share as part of the celebration. This is not an expectation, just an opportunity to share. If your child is bringing food to share, we ask that you supply an ingredients list to cater for students with allergies.
