Finishing Strong: Inspiration from the 2024 Olympics

Cody Gunn I 10 - 12 Acting Campus Principal

As the 2024 Olympics come to a close, we're filled with pride and inspiration from the incredible performances we've witnessed. Our athletes have truly outdone themselves, bringing home numerous medals and setting new records. Their dedication, hard work, and perseverance serves as a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we stay motivated and focused.

With the weather starting to improve, it's the perfect time to channel this Olympic spirit into our own goals. Just as our athletes pushed through to the finish line, we too have important milestones approaching.

Consider the incredible performance of Femke Bol from the Netherlands. When Dutch sprinter Femke Bol entered the final turn of the 4x400-meter mixed relay in fourth position under a downpour, a medal -- let alone a victory -- seemed like a difficult proposition for her team. Her determination and drive in the final stretch of her race were nothing short of spectacular. Bol’s perseverance and skill turned a challenging situation into a triumphant moment. If you haven't seen her race, I highly encourage you to watch it. It's a perfect example of how to finish strong, no matter the challenges faced along the way.

As we look ahead, we have some key dates to keep in mind. There are only 76 days left until Graduation on October 20th, and 85 days until the English exam on October 29th. These dates are fast approaching, and now is the time to stay focused and keep pushing towards the finish line.

In the lead-up to these important events, we will have trial exams over the September holidays, from the 23rd to the 26th. These trial exams are a crucial part of our preparation. Much like the rigorous training and practice sessions that Olympians undergo, these exams provide an opportunity to test our knowledge, identify areas for improvement, and receive valuable feedback. The benefits of this practice are immense, helping us build confidence and refine our skills before the final exams. The timetable for these trial exams is published below.

Let's take the lessons from our Olympic heroes and apply them to our own lives. Stay motivated, keep your eye on the prize, and remember that the finish line is in sight. Together, we can achieve great things.

Stay strong and keep going!
