Community Announcement - Movement of Year 9 to Holloway Road in 2025
Sandringham College has increasingly become the school of choice for the local community and beyond and this is reflected in the College’s growth over the past 6 years. In 2019, when the year 7 to 9 campus was established, 140 students joined us to start their journey through the College. Many of these will be graduating this year. In 2025, we expect well over 200 students to commence year 7 to start that journey at the College. While there are many reasons for this growth, we believe it is because of what we do, and will continue to do, in striving to create the best possible environment for teaching and learning. The strategic master plan for the college has always anticipated the need for a restructure of our campus student allocations. With a large intake for 2025, it is felt that now is the right time to make that move. Thus, with an effective environment for teaching and learning in mind, plans are now underway for the restructuring of the school with the Bluff Road campus to become the Y7-Y8 campus and Holloway Road to be the Y9-Y12 campus. This change will come into play for our head-start program commencing on the 25th of November 2024. Key aspects of this initiative are:
- The maintenance of an effective environment for teaching and learning
- Ensuring we maintain a safe, size appropriate, and effective place to learn and grow.
- The Bluff Road Campus will continue to thrive, remaining a popular option for local primary school students before they transition to the Holloway Road Campus.
- Better use of the space and facilities at the Holloway Road campus.
Please use this form to submit any questions that you may have regarding the change to the structure at the College. We will collate these questions over the coming weeks and continue to update the community. This is a very exciting time for the college as the initiative will continue to further the growth and development of Sandringham College as a whole. We continue to cherish our two campus, one school approach, and will move forward, honouring the work that we do with you and your children.
The things we hold dear
As we are approaching the middle point of the third term it seems prudent to talk with you all about looking out for each other. At its heart, this is what community is all about. This is something that Sandringham College has always held dear and, along with our other core values, remains central to what we do.
Examples of this are easy to find: attendance at working bees, helpers at our school production, students showing genuine care and concern for each other in the playground. It is an extensive, and ever growing list.
It does need to be said that we do not always get this right. A recent event in the playground has reminded me just how precious our sense of care for each other is at the college. Could I ask us all in the coming months, as the year draws to a close and the pressures start to ramp up, that we look out for each other. Whether this is through considered and kind adult interactions, or playing responsibly and with a greater sense of care in the playground – what we have at this tremendous college is treasured and we all need to work together to ensure that it not only stays, but continues to thrive.
The world's a stage
As the college production rolls around again, I find myself in the acting role of a lifetime. Sandringham College is very dear to me and I look forward to doing more than just keeping the seat warm for Amy Porter. We have a tremendous leadership team at the college and it is a privilege to lead and learn along side them. There is loads to get done so if you'll excuse me - I'll get to it.
