Principal's Message to the School Community

Dear KPS Community,
National Reconciliation Week May 27 – June 3rd
This week students increased their understanding of the significance of National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about shared histories, cultures, and achievements and to explore how each individual can contribute to achieving reconciliation.
The theme for NRW this year is “Bridging Now to Next”, which reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. This theme encourages Australians to step forward together, acknowledging past lessons while looking ahead to a united future.
At Monday’s assembly, students viewed a Reconciliation Week ‘Behind The News’ item which was selected to inform and promote discussion and engagement in classrooms this week. Reconciliation Week 2021 - Behind The News
Also at assembly, our fabulous student choir led by Miss Polly and accompanied by Mary Potton, our volunteer pianist, enthusiastically performed a Deborah Cheetham song titled ‘Reconciliation Now!’. Students will participate in a range of activities this week designed to further develop their understanding of reconciliation.
School Council President’s report
Please read Our School Council President Katy McGrath’s report below which was also sent to families via Newsfeed on Wednesday 28/5. Katy provides a comprehensive summary of the matters discussed at School Council including the Principal’s Report.
Feedback
Our EDUpoint partner Shane Crawford visited our school on May 9th to work with some of our Foundation students to evaluate and develop their understanding of feedback.
This complements the work undertaken with our Year 1- 6 students in Term 1. A comprehensive report titled Feedback at KPS was issued (and remains available for viewing) via Newsfeed on 24/3/2025.
This work is linked to our 2025 Annual Implementation Plan goal of maximising learning outcomes for every student.
Ramps
Our ramp and handrail works are nearing completion, and these areas will be available for use next week. Thank you for your patience while some ramps have been out of action.
*Please do not use the steps to and from the staff carpark (or walk through the carpark) at any time - this presents a significant safety risk due to the arrival and departure of vehicles, including delivery and trade vehicles, throughout the day.
Warm regards,
Julie Arnephy
Acting Principal
