It has been a busy and exciting time in Italian across the school!

Our Foundation students have been enthusiastically learning about colours and numbers in Italian. They have enjoyed hands-on activities such as creating colourful paper chains, carefully matching and pasting the correct Italian colour words. Students also took part in a fun number scavenger hunt around the school yard, where they searched for and identified Italian numbers in their environment. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they begin using simple Italian words in meaningful ways.

Meanwhile, our senior students have been fascinated by their learning about Venice and how this unique and spectacular city was built. Their curiosity has led to great discussions and deeper thinking about history, geography and culture. Students have also been actively participating in quizzes during lessons, demonstrating their growing understanding and knowledge.

It’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm for language learning across all year levels. Bravi ragazzi!

SPORT

During FMS, our juniors are seeing marked improvement in their two-foot jumping technique.  The high arm swing is getting almost automatic, and they can even give constructive feedback to their peers!

Our student visitor this week, Paddy, even taught the Foundation students their very first competitive game, 'Builders and Bulldozers'.  It was great to see Paddy have a go at giving instructions and notice the way the students interpreted them.  I think we've witnessed a teacher in the making!

The Seniors are nearing the end of their Tennis program with coach, David Starling.  In preparation for today's Team Tennis in Echuca, David taught them some rules, strategies and what to expect.  The majority of our 5 and 6 students volunteered for this event, so it demonstrates their enthusiasm for a day full of tennis!

We will finish David's tennis program next week with an excursion down to the Tongala Lawn Tennis Club, so that the students will also get a taste for playing on a grass surface.

ART

There has been lots of egg-citement in Art with our annual Easter bonnet making underway. The F-2 students used some collage techniques to create some colourful Easter eggs to decorate their bonnets with and the senior students have been using by their creative thinking skills to come up with their own creative designs. We cannot wait to parade them next week for all to see!

DIGITECH

This week in DigiTech, students in 3-6 have been using the iPads to create posters about different countries for Harmony Week. They have been practicing signing into accounts, navigating menus, manipulating images (e.g. resizing and cropping) and adding and editing text.

Students in F-2 have been working on iPad skills. They have practiced using the touch screen to find and choose apps, navigate basic menus, draw, select and manipulate shapes, and basic troubleshooting techniques like pressing the home button twice and closing/switching apps. Here are some of their artworks!
