Parents & Friends Newsletter Item - Tm 3, Wk 6

Term 3 is a fun-filled busy term with the P & F running our own events as well as supporting school events. Thank you to all those that continue to support our events by volunteering their time.

We held another hot food day last week with Andy working the grill and our parent helpers preparing, serving and cleaning up. Special thanks to Jess Lovell, An & Lee, Helen, Kathryn, Emma and Simone.

Rossmoyne Rummage- Sunday October 19

The RR committee has begun working behind the scenes to organise all the things necessary to run this event. 

We NEED everyone’s help, please read the following information and flyers to see the many ways we can all participate in order to make this year’s event a success!

St Mary’s scarecrow festival entry for 2025

This year we are creating an underwater habitat using re-cycled, re-purposed and re-used materials. Our scarecrows will be dressed to suit their new habitat – we are making them into mermaids. We will try to use only re-cycled materials like plastics (bottles, bags, tablecloths, etc), pool noodles, scrap fabric, tin foil and other stuff found in hard rubbish. Here are some inspirational photos to help paint the picture…

How can you help?

• Donate materials – bring in your clean plastics, used pool noodles, tin foil, ribbons, … anything you think could be made into an underwater oasis. Collection tubs are in the hall.
• Come and build something – Monday lunchtime in the hall we will have materials and resources available. Come and create a sea creature or plant life. Or help create our mermaid costumes.

Give the mermaids a name … We are re-purposing Johnisha and Tonisha from last year, but they need new names to suit their new environment. Enter the competition to name the scarecrows. Email stmarypandf@gmail.com  with your entry - tell us what their names should be and what our waterway warriors are helping to protect. Remember to add your name and class details. 

Father’s Day Event - Sept 5

Please remind your children to invite their fathers, grandfathers, uncles or father figures to join them on Friday September 5th for a morning coffee and catch up in the school yard. 

Father’s Day Stall - Sept 5

Thank you to those that have volunteered to assist at the stall, we welcome anyone else that has some spare time to email us. Due to the 5/6 Gala Day, will be attending the stall without their siblings. Grades 5 and 6 students will attend the stall once they are back at school.

Term 4- Parent Night Out

The P & F have a Save the Date for our social night out! Please see the flyer below and gather some of your school parent friends and come join us for a drink and chat. We have kept it local so that it is accessible to all and so that everyone can organise some child minding.
