Wrap up of Year 3-4's time at Lake Keepit

I must admit, I felt a great sense of relief arriving back in Walcha on Friday after an exhausting couple of days. The trip was eventful right from the start, even before reaching Lake Keepit. Our journey took an unexpected turn when the bus encountered tyre issues, leading to an unplanned detour to Tamworth for repairs. However, once we reboarded the bus the rest of this excursion to the Lake Keepit Sports and Recreation Centre, was filled with laughter, mud, and memorable activities.

The highlight of the first day was undoubtedly the commando course, which featured a series of mud-filled obstacles. The students enthusiastically tackled each challenge, emerging completely covered in mud but with smiles that showed their sense of accomplishment. After cleaning up, they enjoyed some free time swimming in the pool, cooling off and having fun with friends.

As the sun set, everyone gathered for a hearty dinner before rounding off the day with games on the tennis court. Laughter echoed as students played scissors, paper, rock and engaged in spirited rounds of finger fencing.

The next morning began bright and early as the students packed their gear before breakfast. The excitement continued with a session of archery, where many students managed to hit the target, showing off their newfound skills. This was followed by some problem-solving activities.

After lunch, it was time to say goodbye to Lake Keepit. The students boarded the bus, tired but happy, with plenty of stories to share about their adventures when they returned to Walcha.

It was a great two days and thank you to Miss Cattelini who assisted with supervising as well as all of the Year 3-4 students who were a pleasure to take on this experience.

Tomorrow, I’m off on another excursion! I’ll be joining the Year 1-2 students and Mrs. Hoy for a day trip to Thalgarrah. The itinerary just arrived, and it’s packed with activities, so it’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting day. The students are buzzing with excitement, and I’m hoping to sneak in a little rest on the bus ride back to Walcha!

Leadership Structure for Year 6 Students

The positions are as follows:

  • School Captains: 2 students
  • Sports Captains: 2 students

This year there will be a change in the school leadership protocols. In keeping with the times, the students will vote on a candidates ability, character and commitment to the roles rather than their gender. This approach ensures that all students have an equal chance to be considered, recognised and valued for their strengths.

Thank you for your support in fostering a respectful and inclusive environment where all students can thrive as leaders.

TOYS

Staff has noticed an increase in toys being brought to school from home of late.  We have a 'no toys from home agreement' with the students so that everyone gets an equal opportunity to play with the school equipment.  Leaving toys at home will also avoid breakages, loss and any sharing issues.  Thank you for your support.
