The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

On the 8th of September every year, our Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. This day celebrates the birth of Mary, mother of Jesus.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being a man of honour and wanting to spare her publicity, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.’ Now all this took place to fulfil the words spoken by the Lord through the prophet:

The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son

and they will call him Emmanuel, a name which means ‘God-is-with-us’.

We pray, O Lord,

the gift of heavenly grace.

That the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin

may bring deeper peace

to those for whom the birth of her Son

was the dawning of salvation.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, for ever and ever.

Sacrament of First Reconciliation

Last week our community gathered to celebrate the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. We would like to congratulate the children for preparing so well for the sacrament and being so prayerful on the night. Thank you to our wonderful families for working in partnership with us to prepare the children for this next step in their faith journey.

Last Friday our Year 3 students gathered for the Reconciliation Retreat Day. We would like to congratulate the children for their wonderful participation throughout the day.

Saints Club News! Putting our Mercy Values of ‘Service and Compassion’ into action!

Our focus this term is to support the needy people in our local community and put into action our Mercy Values of ‘Service and Compassion’ into action. The children are excited when cooking muffins and bring smiles on the faces of the Hope Cafe volunteers when they deliver the muffins to them on Thursdays for the night’s dinner!
