It been great welcoming the boys back after a well-earned break after a solid first term. We have welcomed two new members to the academy from the Top End in Archie McCleod and Robert Tedcastle who have slotted in seamlessly.

On Monday afternoon we took advantage of some softer soil post rain to head out and collect some ‘Bundis’. The boys have shown great enthusiasm in this project and every chance they get; they head into our project space to work on them. As the cold weather kicks in these types of activities are important to keep our boys engaged in the refuge of an indoor space. We hope to have a number of Bundis and Clap Sticks on display by the end of this term.

School attendance is at the core of what we are about at Clontarf and celebrating achievements in this space is always fun. Our Year 8 cohort had the highest Term 1 attendance (91 per cent) so were treated to a lovely roast pork lunch as thank you. It was great seeing them enjoying the fruits of their dedication.

We were also able to sneak out and get a little ten pin bowling in after school on Wednesday. We have had a few boys stand up as leaders early this term, so we treated them to some bowling action. Year 7 student Oscar Andrews backed up his predictions of a ‘120’ by beating all comers on the day.

We have jumped straight back into our ‘Road to 120’ program with more boys then ever engaging in the driving lessons on offer. Having a license is important for life after school and seeing the boys engage in this program like they do is enormous for us.
