Senior School

Mr Matt Miller, Head of Senior School

Term 2 has started with great momentum and a renewed sense of purpose. After a well-deserved break, it has been wonderful to see our students return with energy and focus, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that the new term brings. With a busy calendar ahead, we look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundations set in Term 1 across academics, co-curricular activities, and sporting events.

Assessment Calendar

The Term 2 Year 11 and 12 Assessment Calendars were sent out over the holiday period. In case you missed them, links to both the Unit 3-4 and Unit 1-2 SAC/Assessment schedules are available below.

If your son is absent on the day of a scheduled SAC or assessment, it is very important that he emails our VCE Coordinator, Mr Chamings, as soon as possible to organise a resit. These resits generally occur on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon from 3:40–4:40 pm.

Careers and Pathways Coordinator

We are thrilled to welcome Kim Pappaluca to the important role of Careers and Pathways Coordinator. With her extensive expertise, Kim is a fantastic addition to our team, providing invaluable support to our Senior School students.

She has already hit the ground running, with several exciting initiatives underway including a VTAC information evening scheduled for early Term 3. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

We understand that navigating the final years of schooling can be a challenging experience for parents. If you need guidance or support, don’t hesitate to reach out to Kim—she’s here to help.

St Mary’s College Visit

At lunchtime on Friday 9 May, Dr Darcy McCormack, Principal of St Mary’s College (University of Melbourne), will visit SPC to speak with students who are interested in learning more about college life and accommodation. Traditionally, St Mary’s has been a popular choice among SPC Old Collegians. If your son is considering studying in Melbourne in 2026, we strongly encourage him to attend this session.

GAT – Tuesday, 17 June

The General Achievement Test (GAT) is a pen-and-paper test assessing students’ general knowledge and skills in writing, numeracy, and reasoning. It plays a key role in the VCE assessment process and verifies that students meet the Victorian Literacy and Numeracy Standards.

The GAT is compulsory for all students completing a VCE or scored VCE VET Unit 3-4 sequence, including Year 11 students undertaking a Unit 3-4 subject and all VCE-VM students.

In the coming weeks, further information will be sent to students and families regarding the GAT. In addition, all students sitting the GAT are required to attend a compulsory assembly on Wednesday 14 May during Lesson 5.
