Year 11 and 12 Visual Communication Design, and Creative Digital Media students recently attended Top Designs 2025 at Melbourne Museum, part of the VCAA Season of Excellence. The exhibition features outstanding student work from across Victoria in design and technology-based subjects.

This inspiring experience allowed students to explore high-quality folios, creative design processes, and professional presentation techniques. They viewed projects that tackled themes like sustainability, innovation, and community, gaining valuable insight into what it takes to succeed at a VCE level.

Students were accompanied by Mr John Davey, Mrs Kat Martin, and Ms Jeanean Pritchard, who each shared their expertise and guided discussions around design thinking, visual language, and assessment criteria. Their professional insights helped students connect what they saw with their own developing folios.

While the trip was especially valuable for Year 12 students currently developing their folios, Year 11 students also gained a clear understanding of the expectations for next year. Seeing the finished work on display helped them appreciate why foundational skills, design theory, creativity, and notions of good design are emphasised in Year 11, and how these form the essential building blocks for VCE success in Year 12.
