Assistant Principal's report

Dear Families,

Welcome to the start of the 2026 school year. I hope you have all had a safe and restful break and are feeling ready for the year ahead.

Child Safe Standards

Our Curriculum Day last week had a strong focus on the Child Safe Standards, ensuring all staff are aligned in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every student. This shared understanding underpins everything we do at Elsternwick Primary School.

Accessibility and Inclusion

Over the holidays, a range of accessible building works have been underway across the school to further support inclusion and ensure our physical environment meets the needs of all learners. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to equity and access for every student.

Welcome to Country

On Monday 2 February, we were honoured to welcome Uncle Mark Brown, a proud Bunurong and Gunditjmara Elder, who led a Welcome to Country and Traditional Smoking Ceremony. This important event demonstrated our commitment to Child Safe Standard 1 and our responsibility to create a culturally safe environment where Aboriginal children and young people feel respected, valued, and connected to Country.

Breakfast Club – Foodbank

A reminder that our Breakfast Club recommenced this week and is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:20am. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to start the day in a calm, social, and supportive environment. As always, everyone is welcome.

We are very much looking forward to a positive and successful year working in partnership with our community.

I also helped a magpie this week and I'm hoping it is a good sign for the 2026 AFL season.
