Carpe Astra Excursion

Last week, Year 7 Carpe Aster class had the exciting opportunity to visit Melbourne Museum’s ROME: Empire, Power, People exhibition and participate in the Investigating the Roman Empire workshop. This valuable learning experience brought our classroom studies of Ancient Rome to life, allowing students to engage directly with authentic Roman artefacts, including statues, mosaics, jewellery and objects used in everyday life. Through examining these historical sources and participating in inquiry-based activities, students developed a deeper understanding of Roman society, the power and influence of the Empire, and the experiences of people living nearly 2,000 years ago. The excursion provided students with a unique opportunity to think like historians, analyse evidence, and make meaningful connections between artefacts and the historical concepts studied in class, enriching their understanding of one of the world’s most influential civilisations.
