PREP UPDATE

Prep students have had a wonderful term of learning! In Literacy, we have been using our phonics knowledge to support our early reading and writing skills. We have also enjoyed exploring journey stories and the much-loved Hairy Maclary books while learning how adjectives help describe characters. In Mathematics, we have been investigating part-part-whole relationships to break numbers into different combinations, learning about statistics by asking yes/no questions, collecting votes and sorting data, and exploring patterns in the world around us, including creating our own colourful caterpillar patterns.
Incursion:
On Friday the 5th of June, our Prep students had a fantastic time taking part in The Creative Space incursion! Working together in small groups, they designed and built marble runs, created human machines, and even brought dancing robots to life. There was lots of excitement, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving throughout the day as students shared ideas, tested their designs and celebrated their successes. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and having fun while learning together!
School Concert:
Our students did a fantastic job performing in this year’s school musical, Matilda! As part of the Maggots Cast and the Revolting Children Cast, students spent many weeks learning songs, practising choreography and rehearsing their scenes. It was wonderful to see their hard work, confidence and teamwork shine on stage during the performances. We are incredibly proud of all students for their enthusiasm and commitment, and for helping make the concert such a memorable experience for our school community.
Prep 100 Days of School:
We are excited to let you know that our Prep students will soon be celebrating a very special milestone – 100 Days of School!
To mark this exciting achievement, we will be holding a celebration on Monday 27th July.
On this day, students are invited to dress up as if they are 100 years old! Think walking sticks, grey hair, glasses, cardigans – we can't wait to see their creative outfits.
We would love for parents and carers to join us between 8:35am and 8:50am to help us kick off the celebration. Families will have the opportunity to take pictures of their children before the students conduct a walk around the learning community laneway before beginning their school day.
Throughout the school day, students will take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities all centred around the number 100. It’s a great way to celebrate how far they’ve come in their first year of school and reflect on all the learning they’ve achieved so far.
As an extra special treat for our students, we would love to welcome parents and carers in for an afternoon session with their child. Our classrooms will be open from 2:15-3pm to give parents the opportunity to see what our students have been doing in their learning community and complete a special 100 days of school task. More information to come next term!
