SGPS Parents & Friends Association

We are pleased to invite families to an upcoming meeting to discuss the formation of a Parents and Friends Association (P&F) at South Geelong Primary School.

A number of parents have expressed interest in establishing a P&F to provide an opportunity for families to become more involved in our school community and to work collaboratively with the school to support our students.

Meeting to Form a Parents and Friends Association

Date: Monday 24th August

Time: 5:30pm

Location: South Geelong Primary School – School Gym

The purpose of this meeting is to:

• discuss the purpose and role of a Parents and Friends Association
• outline the Department of Education's requirements and expectations for establishing and operating a parents' club
• discuss how the P&F could work collaboratively with the school
• determine whether there is sufficient interest from parents to establish a P&F
• if there is sufficient interest, establish an interim committee to progress the formal establishment of the association.

If at least three parents indicate that they would like to establish a P&F, interested parents can then appoint an interim committee. The interim committee's initial role will be to work through the formal requirements for establishing the association in accordance with Department of Education requirements. At least three office bearers (President, Treasurer and Secretary) must be elected to form the interim committee.

We would love to see families who are interested in strengthening our school community and creating opportunities for families to connect and contribute.
