Principal's Report

I hope that everyone enjoyed a relaxing long weekend. It's hard to believe that there are only three weeks remaining in the term!
Community Connections
It is wonderful to witness the many ways our students continue to have a positive impact both locally and beyond. We've received delightful feedback on their efforts, highlighting their dedication to community service. Recent activities include our Year 12 Vocational Major Community Project at the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse (which included OH&S audits, a successful working bee and a toy drive that raised $831 for the Cancer Council), the Year 10 Community Connections program, Year 9 & 10 Japanese students running activities at Beaumaris Primary School for their Japanese Day, Year 11 English Language students engaging with children at Jack & Jill Kindergarten as part of their language acquisition unit, volunteering at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle with the Kiwanis Club of Moorabbin and performances for residents of Fairway Aged Care.
Year Level Wellbeing Activities
At Beaumaris, student voice and agency is central to all that we do. This year, our Year Level Captains are seeking input for a student-run wellbeing activity during a GOAL session for each year level. This initiative aims to empower students and enhance their overall wellbeing through collaborative engagement.
Big Science Competition Results
Well done to all the students who participated in the Big Science Competition in Week 4 this term. Each student received a participation certificate and micro-credentials recognition. Congratulations to the following students who achieved outstanding results:
- High Distinction (top 5% in the country): Louis S
- Distinction (top 10% in the country): Lenny P, Danny C & Liam C
Parent Resources
Thank you to the families who joined us on Wednesday 4 June for the Visible Wellbeing session, hosted by Lea Waters PhD, which showcased the Visible Wellbeing approach that we use here at Beaumaris and shared practical strategies that parents can use to support their children's wellbeing at home. You can find resources from this session, along with materials from the recent 'Thinking Traps' workshop, on the Parent Resources page of this newsletter.
Once again, we appreciate the engagement and support from our community in these important learning opportunities.
Year 10 & 11 Exams and GAT
Well done to our Year 10 and 11 students on their preparation and commitment to their exams this week. The exams provide students with the opportunity to practice the important skill of completing timed assessments. A special thank you to Heath Tregear for ensuring the smooth running of the exams.
All students enrolled in a VCE 3/4 study will undertake the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Tuesday 17 June.
Please note that the Canteen will be closed on Tuesday 17 June to minimise disruption.
Divisional Cross Country
Divisional Cross Country was held on Wednesday, 4 June, and we had some wonderful results with many students advancing to the Southern Metro Regional Finals, which you can read about on the Sports News and Our Latest Facebook & Insta Posts page of this newsletter. Good luck to all!
Arts Week at BSC
The Arts are a vibrant and integral part of our school community, and I encourage all students to get involved in our upcoming Arts Week. Featuring everything from an art competition and collaborative artwork to an Ensemble Concert, Music Soiree, Drama Skit competition and karaoke, and not to mention our highly anticipated Battle of The Bands, there's something for everyone!
It's also wonderful to see our students performing at our lunchtime concerts, creating a great vibe for everyone to enjoy. A special thank you to Camilla Saunders for coordinating these ongoing opportunities for our students.
Beauy Bake Off
I am looking forward to seeing the many wonderful creations that will arrive on Monday morning for our annual Beauy Bake Off. House points and prizes will be up for grabs, and all funds raised will be donated in honour of Holly and Bianca.
