Dear Parents,

I am writing this news in partnership with Trish Brennan as we update you on our Vice Principal Sue Jackson. Sue has been in Frankston Hospital and was very unwell with some side effects to the immunotherapy treatment she has been having. Sue will not be back at school for the rest of this term and I will keep you updated. She is in our thoughts and prayers and we hope she will be back with us soon.

I take this opportunity to thank Sue for all of the work she has done in my absence this term. As we all know Sue is just one amazing person and educator and the significant amount of work she does in our school does not go unnoticed.

In both Sue and my absence our Deputy of organisation Trish Brennan will be acting Principal for the remainder of the term. I take this opportunity to thank Trish wholeheartedly for the brilliant job she has done at keeping the school sailing along this term. Also to our wonderful wellbeing leader Kate Huon who also has done a significant amount of work this term.

A special thanks and shout out to our learning community leaders- Ebony, Megan, Georgie, Ashleigh and Luke who have been leading each community and shining in their emerging leader roles.

We are truly blessed to have such a great team here at St Joseph’s and it is a privilege to lead this wonderful community. (even if it is from remote Australia in a van!)

Congratulations to the Year 4 community on a wonderful community dinner last week. We highly value coming together and ensuring a sense of connection and belonging for all.

We congratulate our year 4 students who made their 1st Holy Eucharist on Sunday.

Community is at the heart of all that we do in our school as we aim to create a wonderful, positive faith community where all students are of the highest priority and together we provide a wonderful landscape to learn, grow and thrive in. A wonderful example of community and students thriving was our House activities afternoon on Friday. Such great leadership from our house captains. We thank Mrs Reed for her organisation and all of the staff for supporting our students and so many parents for coming along to join in the fun.

As we approach the end of Term 2, 2025 I would like to take the opportunity to thank our wonderful staff for all of the dedication and excellent work to ensure every student in our school is reaching their full potential.

Throughout the year we will continue to provide a comprehensive snapshot of your child's learning through a variety of platforms, including a formal report, learning conversations, data slide shows and Seesaw learning pieces. Through these platforms we celebrate and reflect on the learning strengths and areas of needs for your child. Next week you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s learning in the parent teacher conference.

Please make sure you have booked in for your child’s conference and completed the Operoo to let us know if you are able to pick up your child/ren at 1pm on Wednesday 2nd July. Reports will be available on the nForma Parent Portal from Monday 30th of June. Instructions of how to download and access this will be sent out.

The school term concludes on Friday 4th July at 2.30pm. Our end of term assembly will be at 2pm in the hall. At this assembly we will celebrate the spirit of St Joseph’s awards and the Padua perseverance award given to a child in year 4 who has demonstrated great persistence in their learning throughout the term. Our year 1/2 community will also be performing.

Please note there is no supervision being offered after school onsite or at after school care on this day so all students must be picked up at 2.30pm on the last day of term. And we advise those students walking or riding that the crossing supervisor will not be there.

School will recommence on Monday 21st July. I look forward to returning from my long service leave and continuing our journey throughout Semester 2 and thank you for all of your support and contributions throughout this year. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful community here at St Joseph’s.
