Dear St Michael’s School families,

Prayer for the Annunciation

Dear Mary,

On the day the angel came to you,

you said "yes" to God's plan with love and trust.

Thank you for your faith and courage.

Help me to follow your example

and say "yes" to God in my life.

Pray for me,

that I may welcome Jesus into my heart each day.

Mother Mary, be with me and guide me always.

Amen.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK AND ST PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

Last Friday, seven of our school leaders attended the St Patrick's day mass at the cathedral and the following celebrations in the Fitzroy Gardens. They were accompanied by Mr Ray Hickey, our Religious Education Leader and Kathy Koletsas, one of our parents.

This year our leaders processed in with a new school banner, made specifically for these occasions! Miss Caitlin O'Donnell, along with her mother, Mrs O'Donnell, have been busily constructing this stunning banner for our school. We are hugely grateful to the O'Donnells and look forward to the banner being a part of many future celebrations.

UPDATED CALENDAR WITH DATES TO TERM 4

Last week we updated the School Calendar page to include dates we have locked in until the end of this year. Naturally other dates will arise as the year progresses. If you have not yet checked this updated page, please do so and update your home calendars.

MONDAY MORNING ASSEMBLIES

This week we commenced a new procedure for our Monday morning assemblies. We have been finding it's taking a while to get these started in the last few weeks, which naturally eats into our learning time. This week we trialled leaving school bags where we drop them upon arrival and moving straight into assembly, then all moving into classes after that. It seems to have worked well so we will continue this practice, moving forward.

HARMONY DAY

Thank you to all our parents and caregivers for your support last Friday, as you shared stories, prayers, experiences, and special keepsakes with your child about your family culture.

It was a joy to visit one of our Prep classes during their prayer and sharing time and to hear the children proudly talk about their families. Moments like these allow us to celebrate the rich diversity within our community and to give thanks for the many cultures and traditions that shape who we are.

Your involvement makes a meaningful difference, and we are grateful for the ways you help us nurture a sense of belonging and understanding among our students.

FRIDAY ASSEMBLY NEXT WEEK AND EASTER EGG RAFFLE

Next Friday, 4th April, we look forward to watching Five/Six G present the prayer and their learning. Directly after the assembly we will hold our annual Easter Egg raffle. Everyone is welcome to join us for this special event, from 2.35pm, in the hub. We're looking forward once again to a special visit that afternoon!

CAMP INFORMATION SESSION

We remind our Year Five/Six parents that next Monday we are holding a camp information session online from 6.30-7.15pm. The link for this online meeting has been sent. If you have not received it, please make contact with your child's class teacher.

STAFFING UPDATE

We are pleased to announce that we have found a replacement for Miss Ann in Three/Four G from the start of Term Two. Whilst we will greatly miss Miss Ann and we know she will leave a huge hole behind when she leaves, we are delighted to welcome Mrs Laura Dzanovski as the classroom teacher for Thursdays and Fridays. Laura has worked extensively as a Casual Relief Teacher at St Michael's School across all year levels and is aware of our processes and many of the children. Laura has a child in Year One this year and her eldest child left St Michael's after graduating last year. We welcome Laura to the team and wish her well on her journey.

We continue to finalise other staffing positions for Term Two and will announce these in next week's newsletter.

ST MICHAEL'S SCHOOL KINDER KIDS SESSIONS

Do you have a 3 or 4 year old toddler at home? If so, please note down these dates as our Kinder Kids sessions for this year. Any kinder children are welcome to attend and meet our Year Five students to share some stories and games together.

ST MICHAEL'S VEGGIE GARDEN

It’s been exciting to watch our veggie garden come to life over the past couple of weeks! The lettuce is thriving, and the coriander seeds have already begun to sprout—such a wonderful reminder of God’s miracles in action.

This week, our Year One/Two classes had the opportunity to get their hands dirty and contribute to the school vegetable garden. In the beautiful autumn sunshine, they planted spring onion seeds—an ingredient we can use in so many of our everyday recipes. We’re looking forward to seeing the fruits of their labor, and hopefully, everything will be sprouting and growing strong when we return from the holidays!
