Visual Arts

Term 2 - Week 4

Portraits - Our students finished off their 'Portraits' unit, with some great results. We have some of the Year 5/6 portraits on the noticeboard at the art room.

All our students visited the Euroa Community Garden at the start of term. The students enjoyed checking out Aimee McCartney's paintings, walking around the labyrinth, eating the tomatoes and trying to decide what other vegies were growing. Some of our Foundation students remembered planting the strawberries when they were at Kinder. We are now working on painting and we are aiming to paint like Aime McCartney. We are very interested in how our new mural is going to take shape.

We also have some art in progress for Euroa Community Action Group - to be installed at the community garden. These include stepping stones, mini houses and vegetable labels.

We have studied Aimee McCartney's style of painting and the Year 5/6 students are currently painting in her style on two poles near our playground. Can't wait to show you the finished product.

Have a great week!

We aim to use as much recycled and natural materials as possible. We thank Sean Hemeter, both Op Shops and Burton's stores for helping us out with off cuts and recyclables. If you have natural materials or things you are throwing out that we may be able to use, please contact me at mwatson@sjeuroa.catholic.edu.au . I can't use everything, but I will be able to let you know, if it's useful.

Thanks
