Swimming Carnival Reflection
Sports & House captains Swimming Carnival Reflection
Staughton College celebrated their annual Swimming Carnival on the 26th of February, it was a great day and all students had a blast! Our students got to participate in many different events both in and out of the water. In the pool our students competed in events such as freestyle, backstroke breaststroke and butterfly where students of all skill levels participated and had fun. We also held the ball scramble novelty event where each house had to collect balls that were thrown into the water and bring them back to the bucket that correlated with their houses and collected points for their respective house. The crowd favourite was the final in-pool event the Students VS Staff relay where the teachers put up a good fight and it came down to the last few metres where yet again the students were victorious over the teachers.
Out of the pool, Tug of war was a highlight of the day where teachers and students alike got to test their strength against each other. When our students decided to compete against our teachers our students were the winners. Many teachers and students dressed up for the occasion with some wonderful vibrant house colours and amazing cosplays such as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz portrayed by our very own Dantum house captain Matilda and our school vice-captain Jarrod dressed up as an 8 ft tall dinosaur!
Overall Dantum had the most participants leading them to a convincing victory over our other houses with an overall score of 790! In second place was Thara with their numerous 1st place winners, Kurok Guro came 3rd with their amazing costumes and in last place Djurt Djurt, even if they were last place they had cheered for their house and their friends with great spirit.
Overall, the swimming carnival was a great success, and we wish good luck to our swimming participants who got onto the next rounds of competition.
