Naidoc Week
Throughout this week, our students have been engaged in diverse learning experiences to honour NAIDOC Week. These activities offer a meaningful chance for our learners to celebrate the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and significant achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We are incredibly proud to foster an environment where students can cultivate a profound appreciation for Australia's First Nations heritages while embracing the essential values of reconciliation and mutual respect.

Staff Professional Development Day

Our staff were incredibly fortunate to kick off the term with an insightful professional development session led by Dr. Tessa Daffern. Dr. Daffern conducted a spelling masterclass centered on evidence-based practices, specifically focusing on her research regarding Triple Word Form Theory. This session explored the explicit instruction of phonological, orthographic, and morphological skills for our learners here at St. Anne’s.
This professional learning directly supports our School Improvement Goal of strengthening explicit teaching practices to improve student learning outcomes. It also aligns closely with our ongoing commitment to the MACS Vision for Instruction, reinforcing the importance of evidence based instruction and whole school approaches to learning and teaching.
Naplan Results
NAPLAN Individual Student Reports were distributed to families via their children this week. These reports provide a snapshot of your child's literacy and numeracy achievement at the time of the assessment. We encourage you to review them alongside regular classroom assessments and semester reports to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's learning progress. Parents and carers may appreciate viewing this informative video regarding Individual Student Reports. It offers clarity on student-level data and current proficiency benchmarks. Additionally, the parent and carer brochure (PDF) serves as an excellent reference and is accessible in various languages via the website.
