From the Principal

Welcome back
Welcome back to Term 4! We hope all our students, families and staff enjoyed a relaxing break and are feeling refreshed and ready for a wonderful final term.
Term 4 is always a busy and exciting time, filled with learning, celebrations and special events. Please check out the dates for all upcoming events.
Celebrating 12 Wonderful Years at Heany Park
We sincerely thank Janet for her dedication to education and her outstanding contribution to Heany Park over the past 12 years.
Janet began her teaching career at Mornington Park Primary School, before moving to Somerville, Kunyung as a Leading Teacher and McKinnon as Assistant Principal, eventually joining Heany Park.
During her time at Heany Park, Janet has helped shape the school we know today. Her many achievements include introducing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), implementing the Thrive Approach to support student wellbeing, and overseeing improvements to our school grounds, including the new playground and shade sails. She also guided our school community through the challenges of COVID with care and resilience.
On behalf of the entire Heany Park community, thank you, Janet, for your leadership, dedication and commitment. We wish you a wonderful retirement filled with happiness, adventures, sleep-ins and absolutely no yard duty!
PCMS- Respect
As part of our ongoing work with Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS), this term we are focusing on acknowledging and reinforcing positive behaviour across our school. Our focus value is Respect (one of the four school values), and staff will be looking for opportunities to recognise students who demonstrate respect through their words, actions and interactions with others. When students are “caught” showing respect, they may receive a blue token to add to our whole-school collection. Together, our students will work towards filling our token target and earning a whole-school reward. This is a fun and positive way to celebrate the great choices our students make every day while continuing to build a consistent and respectful school culture.
A huge thank you Mrs Nutbean and her husband for 3D printing out new Respect Tokens.
House Athletics
Our House Athletics Day is coming up on Thursday 12th November, and we would love to have some parent helpers join us for the day!
We’re looking for parents who can lend a hand with events, recording results, and helping the day run smoothly.
Please note that all parent helpers must have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
If you’re available to lend a hand, we would really appreciate it!
Please email kate.draper@education.vic.gov.au as soon as you can.
Thanks so much for your support – it makes a big difference to our students and helps make the day fun for everyone!
