Congratulations to our Grade 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last week. This was a special event for you to receive the Holy Spirit and complete your Initiation into the Catholic faith. It was great to hear about your chosen Confirmation names and why you chose your namesake saints, and lovely to meet some of your chosen sponsors. We hope you all enjoyed any special celebrations you had after Mass too!
Thank you Prep CH and Prep NL for leading beautiful class prayer services these past two weeks. It is a privilege to gather and celebrate with your class community.
Did you hear? Pope Leo has declared two new saints earlier this week! Carlo Acutis, who died in 2006, is the first millennial to be canonised as a saint, and Pier Giorgio Frassati, who died in 1925 at 24 years of age.
Carlo Acutis
Acutis was not born into a religious family, but he became increasingly devout as he grew up. He had a particular interest in computer science and studied college-level programming even as a teen. He launched a multilingual website to document church recognised Eucharistic miracles. He became known as “God’s Influencer”.
Pier Giorgio Frassati
Frassati was born into a prominent Turin family and is known for devoting himself to serving the poor and spreading the faith to his friends.
Pope Leo said that the new saints “are an invitation to all of us, especially young people, not to squander our lives, but to direct them upwards and make them masterpieces.”
