Term 4 in Physical Education and Sport
SPORT
Term Four had ongoing Inter School commitments with the Western Region Athletics Carnival for some of our senior and middle school students held last week. Summer sport is being held this term on a Friday morning for the senior school with teams for basketball, bat tennis, cricket and newcomb. The Prep Intensive Swimming program will be held this term with an eight-day program being conducted at the MAC.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
- Prep - Years 1 & 2 – Will be focusing on the FMS of the double handed strike of static and moving ball of varying sizes using a cricket bat, foam baseball bat and hockey stick. We will work hard at improving the stance, grip, swing and strike. Minor striking drills and games will feature to round off the year.
- Years 3 & 4 – Will concentrate on the skills of the two handed strike as used in games such as cricket, tee ball, softball and hockey There will also be an emphasis on cricket and tee ball in a modified format this term with drills, and small sided games.
- Years 5 & 6 – Will also focus on the two handed strike with the emphasis on hitting a static and moving ball as used in games such as cricket, softball and hockey. We will also focus on the skills of the game of cricket and tee ball incorporating stroke play, drills and games.
