Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Semester One Reports

Miners Rest Primary School will be providing student achievement reports for Semester One this year as usual.

The reports will be distributed on June 25.

The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments will not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.

Classroom teachers will of course be pleased to discuss with you your child’s progress at our next Student Led Conferences, scheduled for September 16, or, as always, you can contact the school to arrange a meeting with your child’s teacher.

Traffic Concerns

It has been recently bought to our attention that some members of our school community may be unlawfully parking when dropping off and collecting children from school and kindergarten. We are aware of infringement notices recently being issued by Ballarat City Council and we are taking this opportunity to remind our families that student safety is of paramount importance to all of us across our educational setting. Please support us in ensuring the safety of all of our students each and every day.

Statement of Values & School Philosophy

I want to take the opportunity to thank our families for living our values alongside us each and every day. As a school, we value your partnership and can confirm that a strong, supportive and respectful partnership between home and school, enhances student learning outcomes markedly.

Our Statement of Values & School Philosophy provides information as to the roles and responsibilities of parents and carers within our school community, as well as school leaders and teaching and non-teaching staff.

Our Statement of Values & School Philosophy can be located on our website, along with other key documents and policies for your reference.

Curriculum Day

This Friday is a 'student free day' for all school students. Staff will be onsite engaging in purposeful professional learning related to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and the Victorian Teaching & Learning Model 2.0.

As always, we thank our School Council for the endorsement of the Curriculum Days each year and value the continued support of the School Council, and broader parent community, for support of continuous learning and practice improvement for our staff.

We wish all our families a safe and happy long weekend,

Kylie Nissen.
