A Fantastic Community Effort – Trivia Night

Our recent Trivia Night, held a fortnight ago, was a fantastic success and a wonderful reminder of the strength of our school community. It was incredibly pleasing to see so many families and staff come together for an evening filled with laughter, friendly banter and competition, and connection. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved, we raised over $3,200 for the school — an outstanding achievement.

A very special thank you must go to Rochelle Travitz, whose phenomenal organisation of the entire event ensured the night ran seamlessly from start to finish. From the early planning stages through to the final details on the evening, Rochelle’s dedication, time, and energy were evident in every aspect of the event. Her commitment to our school community is deeply appreciated and did not go unnoticed.

We are also incredibly grateful to Dion for his impressive work as Quiz Master on the night. Dion brought energy, humour, and just the right level of challenge to the questions, keeping everyone engaged and entertained throughout the evening. His ability to read the room and keep the momentum going played a huge role in making the night such an enjoyable experience for all.

Helen also deserves sincere thanks for her organisation of the silent auction. The variety and quality of items available created plenty of excitement and generous bidding across the evening. Helen’s efforts behind the scenes ensured the auction ran smoothly and contributed significantly to the overall funds raised.

Of course, events like this are never the work of just a few people. There was a dedicated team who assisted with setting up and packing down, giving their time generously to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their willingness to pitch in wherever needed is a true reflection of the supportive and collaborative spirit that defines our school.

I would also like to extend my thanks to all families and staff who attended on the night. Your enthusiasm, participation, and community spirit created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made the evening so enjoyable. A further thank you to the many businesses who donated items for the silent auction—we will be recognising their generosity more formally in a separate communication.

On a personal note, as a member of the staff team on the night, I was particularly pleased that we managed a late surge up the leaderboard — something of a “Steven Bradbury moment” after spending the entire evening in last place!

The funds raised will be thoughtfully considered, with School Council working alongside the school to determine how best to invest this money for the benefit of our students. We look forward to sharing more about this in the future.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to making the evening such a memorable and successful event.

A Small Adjustment to Our Daily Schedule (Term 2)

At the beginning of the term, I shared some changes to our daily schedule, particularly the introduction of dedicated time for Morning Circle and recess eating time. These adjustments have had a very positive impact, with students settling more quickly into their day and being better prepared for learning.

As part of our ongoing reflection and in response to staff feedback, we will be making a small adjustment to the timings of the school day from the start of Term 2.

Morning Circle will now be incorporated within the first learning session (except when classes have a specialist in Session 1), rather than sitting as a separate block at the beginning of the day. This allows us to return recess to a 30-minute break, giving students additional time for play and social interaction, while still maintaining all of the important elements we have introduced this term.

Importantly, all other aspects of the timetable will remain the same, including our dedicated eating time and overall instructional time.

This adjustment reflects our commitment to continually refining our practices to best support both student wellbeing and effective teaching and learning.

Please refer to the updated timetable graphic for a clear overview of how the day will look in Term 2.
