Special Toys and Pokémon Cards at School
In recent weeks we have had students bringing in special toys and things such as Pokémon cards to school, this has caused some conflict and angst among some of our students. Leaving the teacher to sort out issues about toys and cards is time consuming and takes away from learning time.
Bringing special toys to school is a common practice among some students, but it can cause a variety of issues for both students and teachers. While toys can be comforting, they often become a source of distraction during class, taking attention away from learning. When children bring their favourite toys to school, they may focus more on playing with them than participating in lessons, which can hinder their academic progress.
Additionally, bringing special toys to school can lead to conflicts between students. Children might argue over whose toy is better or who gets to play with it first. These disputes can disrupt the learning environment and create unnecessary tension among classmates. There's also the risk of toys getting lost or broken, which can be upsetting for the child who brought it in.
We understand that some students require fidget tools to help them focus on their learning. These tools should be discrete and not distract classmates or the teacher.
For parents and teachers, it's essential to set clear boundaries about bringing toys to school. Encouraging students to leave special toys at home allows them to focus on their education and helps maintain a peaceful classroom environment. Teachers can explain to children that school is a place for learning, and toys are best enjoyed during playtime at home.
In conclusion, while toys can be important for a child’s emotional development, it's better for both the students and the school environment if they are kept at home. This allows children to concentrate on their education and avoid potential conflicts or distractions, or loss of special items.
Sun Protection at FWPS
A reminder to our families to please provide each child with their own SPF 50+ sunscreen.
Reminder announcements are given regularly. Staff are unable to apply sunscreen to individual students so please practice supporting children to do this independently at home. Please refer to our Sun Protection Policy on our website: https://www.fwps.vic.edu.au/uploaded_files/media/sun_protection_policy.pdf
