TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to Week 10 of Term 1.
We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.
As the term draws to a close, we are excited to share the latest updates and happenings here at TheirCare. It has been a wonderful term filled with engaging activities, learning experiences, and lots of fun. We are also pleased to extend a warm welcome to all the new families and children who have joined us, as well as those who will be attending TheirCare this week. We are thrilled to have you as part of our community and look forward to the experiences we will share together. We sincerely hope that all the children, both new and returning, have had an enjoyable and memorable time at TheirCare.
This week’s theme is “Easter”. During this week the children have engaged in a variety of enjoyable activities and crafts. Angie and the children have been creating Easter cards for their family and friends, which has been a heartwarming sight. The Easter colouring sheets have proven to be extremely popular, with new ones needing to be printed for each session. The children also enjoyed outdoor play, with games that encouraged teamwork and physical activity, such as footy, basketball, gaga ball, tag and soccer. Inside, the kids explored their imagination with storytelling sessions with their friends, where they created their own stories and shared them with their friends. To wind down, they participated in calming activities like Jenga, UNO, Spoons and Go Fish card game, giving them a chance to relax and focus.
Pupil of the Week
This week’s Pupil of the Week is Maya Sutton for showing empathy and a willingness to help others that makes her a wonderful role model for kindness and compassion to her peers. Well done Maya! We are incredibly proud of you.
Announcement
We would like to let all families know that if you are dropping your child for the morning session or picking them up in the afternoon you can now go through the main gate at Argyle Street or use the back gate on Blandford Street. Thank you for your understanding.
As the holiday season approaches, we are excited to announce our upcoming three days of excursions. We kindly request that all parents ensure their children bring nut-free lunches, as well as hats and drink bottles for the day. To help us maintain a smooth schedule and ensure the safety of all children, we ask that children be dropped off on time. This will allow educators to review safety expectations and ensure that we are able to depart promptly for the excursions. Please find the dates and times for the excursions listed below:
Tuesday, 8 April - Movie Day (drop off by 8:00am)
Thursday, 10 April - KABOOM (drop off by 8:30am)
Wednesday, 16 April - Werribee Open Range Zoo Excursion (drop off by 9:00am)
A reminder to all families to please book your children as early as possible for the Holiday program as some of the days for the holiday program are already fully booked.
Please note that due to the building works the excursion buses will depart and return from Blandford Street.
We would like to let all families know that we have a new staff member at Footscray West Primary School TheirCare. His name is Shahim, he is our new 2IC. He has been great and engaging with the children and the kids love playing sports with him.
